Hi, I don't know if it's already been ask or if anyone can help but I heard that with the new update, time travel has change quite a bit. I haven't keep up with animal crossing but I wanted to know that if I travel back for example a month and I want to stay one month behind of irl time so I don't sync my game back up. Will I be able to do the event or I need to be sync with irl time to do them? Also, after a month passes (still one month behind irl time) will I get the mom gift or any other special item from this month or does it still need to be sync with irl time? thanks
I... have no idea what you heard, but TT really hasn't changed much, if at all. The only thing worth mentioning is that you can't TT ahead to holidays that haven't happened IRL yet- for instance, I can't TT to Toy Day right now and celebrate it in game (it'll just be a normal December day). But I can TT back to Turkey Day, since it's already passed. You'll also want to sync your game to the internet and have a Nintendo account linked to it to get unlock Toy Day in the game.
To answer your question- you can absolutely TT back and stay back a month. And you'll still get the mom gifts- heck, I've been TTing in and out of December and have gotten MULTIPLE mom sweaters (some people actually TT in and out of months JUST to hoard them). As long as the date on your Switch is set to the date you want to be playing, you're good. I'm currently a bit ahead, but recently I went back to July to grab a bug for my museum, and it all worked great.
Nothing has changed with the recent update AFAIK. A lot of blog sites made a big deal out of TT'ing to the Toy Day event not being possible just as a way to generate clicks. For nearly all of the events so far this year, Nintendo has required you to be in sync with the internet to unlock the event.
Usually your game will have say example v1.0.0, but when the event unlocks it goes to v1.0.0a
