I pre-ordered the $25.00 DLC. Since I bought Mario Party last night, my Nintendo points saved me $5.00 on the AC DLC so that was nice. I prefer the idea of having all of the content permanently, in case I ever do stop my online subscription in the future. I know that you keep most of the content but I don't wanna lose any parts of it if I ever quit online play.
Bought it. Nintendo's "Expansion Pack" is a mess; the emulation for N64 games are 'functional' at best, and that's being generous, and I have zero interest in SEGA Genesis games. I don't want to pay 70$ a month for something I already have (NSO) two years of just to access some DLC I can buy for 32.99+tax with my 8$ of Gold point credits that I got with Metroid Dread and Mario Party Superstars. Especially when I know I will hardly ever touch the main selling point of the Expansion Pack: the emulators (that barely work might I remind you).
Standalone. I personally thought expanded NSO was a terrible deal as it was, but to hear that the emulation is bad on top of that... Plus I don't permanently keep online memberships. I wanted the standalone so I can still play the DLC even when I don't have online.
I already had the NSO expansion pack so I'm going to trial the DLC on that. If I like it and think it's something I'll be actively enjoying I'll upgrade to the standalone DLC so I can keep playing once my membership expires next year.
NSO+ is just too expensive for what it offers--I'd totally do if it was like $20 extra from the family plan I'm currently paying for, but over double!? That I'd have to pay forever or I'd lose my DLC? I love N64 games, but not that much.
I bought it separately on the eShop for the $25. I don't want my DLC to be tied to my NSO, and the only reason I have NSO is to use online, as I am not interested in those older games and I am sure as heck not going to pay 30 extra a year for them. I want to be able to play my DLC whether I have NSO or not and it just generally cheaper overall to buy it outright.
I bought the dlc on its own, I’m not paying all that extra money just for some games I’ve played more times than I can keep up with. Plus, I don’t need the family plan anyway. I have a second user, but I don’t use online with it. For me, it’d be a complete waste of money. Especially considering you lose the dlc the second you stop paying for the plan. Lol no thanks.
Got it standalone. I'm not interested in the NSO+ whatsoever because it's... Let's be honest, it's too expensive for what it offers. Plus the perspective of basically renting a DLC just rubs me the wrong way.
If my household’s getting the online expansion pack, it’s gonna need a bit more than the N64 and Genesis games to justify the price hike. I play AC avidly, but my sibling doesn’t, so even with two people the games plus DLC only one of us will play is… not a great deal when the standard option suits us fine.
I don't mean to stray too far off topic but is it because NSO requires a year sub paid at once? $50 and even $80 for 12 months is super cheap for a subscription to pretty much anything these days.
Question: If I have 8 people (separate Nintendo accounts) on one switch, will the DLC be accessible to all of them if I buy it on one account? Or do I need to get the NSO expansion and pay yearly?
I bought it outright. Everything I hear about the N64 games they have put on the expansion keeps getting worse and worse (not to mention that I already have an original N64 and the games I want), and I've never really been interested in Mega Drive games.
I bought it. I saw no reason to get the expansion and as someone who normally doesn’t play multiplayer games, in the event I decide to not renew my sub, I rather have the DLC permanently. I thought it was worth it (from what the direct showed us) more than the expansion seemed to be.
DLC only because I don’t play the other games offered on the expansion pack. Also I’m scared of the idea of not owning it if I cancel subscriptions or something.
Standalone. Even if I was interested in the older games or I had a family to purchase for I think I would still prefer the permanent purchase. I can understand wanting to save money in the start if you say have a family and would have to purchase the DLC for all of them. Say I have a family of 4 and chose the family sub cos it's $70, instead of individually coming to $100. I would still SAVE money buying perm, because after 2 years the cost of that sub would go up to $140. If you don't think you're/your family's gonna get much enjoyment of the game after a year then sure buy the sub but I know I'll be playing this for a while to come.
