I would be so annoyed if they were hogging up space in my basket! I'd definitely move them.
I think taesek's idea has potential. I also think maybe if you bombarded her with several letters in one day, she might be forced to do something with them? They might just end up in Re-Tail or she'll give/sell it back to you, but it could be worth a shot. I've never sent a villager more than one letter per day, so I don't know what will happen.
