I had seen an app on the nintendo shop to do this, and got a digital copy to do this. Though now the app appears to be gone...

Am I imagining things or did anyone else see this app?

I wanted to transfer my main game from my physical copy to my digital copy so I could give my physical copy to a friend.

You saw it too!? So Im not imagining things! I cant find it anywhere in the shop!

My shop doesnt show it in the search, is it under a certain catagory or something? I could swear it was in the nintendo app section just a few days ago!

I'm pretty sure it's impossible to transfer an Animal Crossing New Leaf save file, even with that save data transfer tool. I have no experience trying to do what you are asking about, though.

It should work just fine, it was even in the Animal Crossing New Leaf E-Shop.

Though I don?t really see any reason to do it, since I have seen a lot of people lose their save game on the digital download.

I've been playing the digital version this whole time and I haven't lost my save game. xD

If there's a tool that works to transfer save files, couldn't it be used to backup saves too? If such a tool exists, why are people always freaking out over corrupted saves?

That's now how this works. You're transferring data, not backing it up.

Well how does it work then? I'm confused because I thought a part of the New Leaf save file (the save ID or something like that) saves on your SD card, then when the save file gets corrupted it's because it checked the save ID of the file that's saved to your game file or cartridge against the save ID on your SD card and they do not match. If that's the case and it turns out you can transfer the entire save file using that save transfer tool, why wouldn't people just transfer their current save to a different 3DS or a different copy of the game and keep that for backup?

It only takes the data from the physical copy and transfers it to the DL copy, it then wipes the physical copy clean. You can't transfer the data on the DL to the physical copy. And that's all the transfer tool does. You can't create a back-up or save your data to an SD card. It's actually kind of a useless tool, unless you want to transfer your data to a DL.

Search for it under "downloadable games" and "other" in the e-Shop. It should pop up then.
