how many trees of each type are allowed? im creating a fish and bug rural island however, isabelle told me that my island is 'too rural' because apparently theres a tree limit! i like the trees that i have and i want to plant more because theyre going to be responsible for the paths...but the game wont allow me to do that so i need to know! ARGH nintendo for this!

I didn’t know there was a tree limit! Apparently it’s 220 trees, but didn’t break it down by type. That was a Reddit answer, so I’m not 100% on it since it’s not from an official fandom type thing, or from Nintendo directly.

I'm surprised my own island isn't at this limit yet, it has to be close... Anyway, you can plant as many trees as you want, the 220 tree limit only prevents your island rating from hitting 5 stars. I don't think keeping an island at 5 stars is worth it, as you only get lilies of the valley and slightly more rare mushrooms (both of which can just be traded). So I would definitely go for creating the island the way you want it, instead. ^^

so the ONLY purpose for getting a 5-star island is to get the lily of the valleys, a few mushrooms and no other special gifts Ever?
to be fair about this: when i began the game the first thing out of the gate was a scorpion..and more every night. the spawn continued until i decided to grow trees...and then the spawn disappeared. *i used to get 5 scorpions a night*.
now im thinking that if you accidentally grow something or put something on top of their spawn points they wont spawn anymore. is that true? and if so; how do you 'test' where the spawn locations are without taking out one tree at a time and waiting to see?

thank you both!!! :D

Not technically true. Until you get a 5 Star rating, you can't get the Golden Watering Can. Until you get that, you can't grow Gold roses. Once you do get that though - then yes, having a 5 Star rating doesn't mean anything materially other than getting the Lily of the Valleys, as far as I know. Not time for mushrooms on my Island yet, so not sure about that.
