So we all know about the new feature where you can eat fruit then dig up a tree. I was wondering if you guys think this will work in other peoples towns as well? I don't see why it wouldn't but I can only imagine somebody just stealing my trees lol

Also a side note, there is a bit in the trailer where it shows the player selling weeds to Tom nook. That would be sooo annoying if you were trying to pick all the weeds from your town and they all just kept cluttering your pockets. Especially if your island starts out overgrown and whatnot. But I guess that's just part of it...

I still find the whole digging up a tree thing a little weird in general XD but weeds are probably gonna be stackable, as with most forgeable items so maybe it won’t be too annoying. Plus, i’m kinda liking the look of the weeds and i’m probably gonna leave them growing around my island after completing certain mileage points :>

i think i remember at E3 the gameplay they showed us explained that only one person at a time can have permission to change your island?

I mean it's not that different from the real world where you can dig up a medium sized tree (depending on the size) to move for landscaping an area or someone's backyard, except in the real world you wouldn't use a small spade to yank it out. That idea doesn't seem too far fetched for me so idk why people think it's so bizarre or unrealistic, but to be far NH is a game nothing realistic about talking to animals that stand on 2 feet :)

I didn't realize you could dig up trees. This is frightening. My mayor is gonna be so ripped. Just full of tree diggin' muscles. She's gonna look like Ladybeard.

I can accept talking animals who want tea parties, fishing up a whale with a regualar ol' string on a stick or even storing an entire living room of oversized heavy furnature in my pocket...But digging up trees? Ya' gone n' lost me there! Get outta here with your ridiculous satanic nonsense magic! Ya' gone too far, Nintendo! I can't accept this lack of realism!

I'm guessing there will be something in place so that you won't be able to dig up trees on other player's islands.

I don't think other players from different islands can dig up your trees. If they do, I might reconsider doing to some trading on here and just play with my mom and other friend who will be getting the game with me. I mean, I really want to hang out with others, but if this is the case, I don't want my nice and neat town to get destroyed, but like I said, I don't think they can do that.

As for the weeds, yes, they are stack able. All the materials you can gather are stack able and don't take up too much space and clutter up your inventory. I actually like that they do. Makes collecting things a whole lot easier. :)

I didn’t think about it in this way. It seems a nice add to me but yeah, let’s hope they won’t allow visitors to destroy your island.

You probably wont need to worry about random TBT members digging up your trees and destroying your island. Most people here are pretty trust worthy and prob wont risk going to your island just to wreck it. Just make sure you're trading with someone with good wifi ratings :>

I don't think that you will be able to just walk into someones town and digging up there all trees. Would
be pretty messed up if this would be the case. However, if I understand it right another character who is
living on the same island can do this if the player allows it? Like a second person who can help out? Or
even a friend from another island if you give them the permission? Wasn't there some kind of feature
like this which they explained on the Tree House presentation back then?

Otherwise, I actually do like this new feature that you can just dig out an whole tree, makes landscaping
much easier in my opinion, as you don't have do destroy a tree if you want to move it over to another spot.

Thank you dizzy bone for the kind words and you are probably right. Everyone here is pretty nice, but I guess I just let the fear get to me after hearing so many horror stories about random people coming to your town and destroying it. Guess I shouldn't let it bother me too much. I once did have fun playing with others and I would like to do that again.

Also, another thing to add on to the tree digging up would be, I hope you can dig up any tree and not just the fruit trees. If they do allow this, hopefully we can move the cedar trees down to the south side of our towns and not just the north. I'm really excited to do some landscaping in New Horizons. :D

Interesting, I didn't think about this. It's already odd that eating a fruit gives you the power to lift a fully grown fruit tree, but if players can just come into your town and be able to steal your trees then I'd probably limit myself to only visiting, for trades, too. Maybe buying another game at a bargain price for trades? I wonder if Nintendo thought about this and implemented a block or if they're actually goig to leave that ability in.

Thinking again about this new feature, there are some things I do wonder how they works, like what
happens if you try planting a grown-up tree next to another grown-up tree, with no space in between.
Do you get then simply the message that this is not possible or does the tree "disappear"? And what
about saplings, are you also able to dig them up again if you plant them at the wrong spot and place
them to another spot without lose them in this process? I really hope that this is possible, because
with this you would save lots of saplings which you may lose if you plant them accidentally in the
wrong spot. Hope they gonna explain this more in the next Direct, otherwise I guess I will do lots
of "tree experiments" at the beginning when the game comes out.

I'm leaning towards you not being able to dig up other people's trees. That could be pretty destructive and make a lot of players anxious when inviting people to their towns. Hopefully Nintendo would take precautions against that.

Also, am I the only one who isn't a huge fan of this feature? While it is convenient it feels like cheating to me. :p but maybe I'm just old-fashioned. *Walks off muttering to self* "in MY days we had to plant saplings and wait for them to grow!"

Probably. But I also hope that we get to have ?island settings? where we get to manage what you want others to do on your island down to the nitty gritty details. Maybe you?ll want to have people shoveling up trees if you want a friend to landscape for you. If not then I?ll be super disappointed. If I already watch down one visitor like a hawk in my town, then my island?s gonna be wrecked with seven.
