Help!

Today, Ankha showed up at the campsite. I don’t have her amiibo card btw. I feel sort of obligated to move her in. She’s so popular, and I like her as a villager. A tier for me. But the only villager I would move out for her would be Audie, but I don’t have her photo yet and it feels cruel to move her out this early. She’s only been on my island since very late December 2024. But I feel like if I don’t have Ankha move in, I’ll regret it later. I don’t want any of my villagers to move out. I need them all to stay. I love them too much. But at the same time, I feel like I’ll be frowned upon for not taking Ankha. I want her on my island, but I don’t want to have any of my villagers move out for her. Sigh… this is hard…

Audie can’t leave yet! Help! What should I do? Tomorrow, Ankha will be gone. So I need help ASAP!

Get rid of Audie. She has an ulterior motive and intends to eat your other villagers. Save them and evict Audie before it's too late.

If you're just wanting to get Ankha because she's popular, I'd say don't get her. I know I can't speak for everyone, but I can't imagine most people would look down on you for keeping the villagers you actually like. It's your town, and you that spends time in it, with your villagers- so keep the ones you like!!
If you do genuinely like her though, then I guess it's just that tricky decision of whether you like her or Audie more.

Audie and Ankha are honestly both super popular villagers, but even then, you should decide on who you like the most! I've skipped over plenty of popular villagers cause I liked someone else more. You're never gonna be able to have every Villager, so have the ones you like the most. There will always be a bit if regret I think regardless of what path you choose, but the importance is the choice you made. No one in their right mind should frown on you for not taking in a Villager you didn't want as much as another.

That said if you want an actual answer I'd keep Audie I like her more than Ankha

If Ankha is truly liked by you, then I suppose you can flip a coin. Go with what the coin says or if you are catching yourself hoping for a particular side of the coin... Then you have your answer.
You can always circle back around to Audie in the future for her photo if collecting photos are a priority in your gameplay. You'd need Ankha's photo too anyway at that point.

Nobody is going to “look down on you” for not moving Ankha in. I mean, honest question, is there even a way that anybody would know that you had passed up Ankha if you chose to do so?

The explosive popularity of ACNH sharply spiked content where YouTubers and other content creators posted about “The Top Ten BEST Villagers!” or island hopping videos with thumbnails of a hippo under a big red X called “ew ew ew an UGGO Tried to Move In!!!” In reality, there are no rare or top tier villagers, there is no objective standard by which villagers can be rated, and I’ve personally found that the game is only satisfying and fun when I let my relationships to my villagers evolve organically instead of caring about their supposed value to online strangers.

Most of my favorites are pretty unpopular, if that helps! I love anteaters, gorillas, cows, rhinos, mice, and hippos—along with more beloved villagers like dogs, cats, and sheep. I’ve never really been into Ankha, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t invite her. It sounds like you’re attached to Audie, though, so I think you should keep Audie and if you ever have an open plot and regret passing up Ankha, this forum has lots of people who help others get their dream villagers.

I agree, you should go with the one you like the best. If you change your mind you can always get either Ankha or Audie from someone on here.

I think you should keep Audie if you feel any attachment her. It'll hurt you in the long run if you go for someone, and have some hesitation towards Audie leaving.

You don't have to be worried about being judged, we're all chill here, not like people Reddit. So you have who you want, and I would keep her.

But its your choice in the end!

I think you should decide which villager you care more about and go with that one. If you're attached to Audie or at least want to earn her picture first, you should probably keep her.

Online popularity and tier lists don't really amount to anything; it's your island, no one else's, and no one else's opinion on what villagers you have matters at all. No one will know that you passed on a popular villager. If anyone were to give you any grief about it, they have too much free time on their hands and too little worthwhile things going on in their life if they're spending their time pestering somebody about something of no direct consequence to them.

What matters is your own enjoyment of your own game. If you insist on getting Audie's picture first, do that. For what it's worth, if you have Nintendo Switch Online, you could probably acquire Audie's photo from someone in the Nook's Cranny section of the forum. This shop, for example, has her photo for sale for 2 TBT.

I'd say to just weigh whether you prefer Ankha or Audie overall and go with who you want more.

If you really want Ankha or a popular villager later, you can always island hop!
Honestly though, do what you want. Other people's opinions do not matter and the only people who would "frown" upon you are people who care needlessly for tier lists that don't matter.

Final Update: I chose to reject Ankha. Audie is gonna stick around. I wasn’t actively looking for Ankha, so it didn’t make sense to make such a brash decision.
(Believe me, I learned my lesson with Lily. I miss her SO MUCH.)

I prefer Audie, but that may just be my dislike for snooties talking. I’m not a fan of them, or Ankha.
