Vegan Cheese

of all the vegan cheese i've tried, chao cheese is the best imo. like others have said, daiya is a lot better melted so you could give it a try on grilled cheese or pizza!

I don't like cheese in general so I don't buy the vegan version either but from what I've heard, once you get used to it "normal" cheese becomes disgusting to you.

I must also mention that with the daiya grated cheese, you have to melt it or have it on something like tacos. Eating it plain is kinda gross. XP Try it on cheesy garlic bread. It's my favourite! It doesn't really look melted like regular cheese does but trust, it is. It goes creamy in your mouth. I'm not even vegan and I love it.

It isn't really 'cheese', but have you tried sprinkling nutritional yeast on things? It has an earthy-cheesy flavor IMO.

I was vegan for a while, but I hated all of the cheese substitutes so I just went without. Good luck!

I thought the title said something else,

Vegans are just ppl who trys to mix tasty foods and their lifestyle together and failed miserably...

Wow, I really don't understand why people have to be so negative about this. If you don't like it, don't do it.

I agree! To all of the people posting nasty things about vegans and vegetarians, why are you even here? If you have no constructive advice about vegan cheeses there is no reason for you to comment! :C

I'm not trying to be rude to Shattered or anything, I just don't think their comment was really helpful or constructive in any way. The question was if anyone knows some good vegan cheese or something, not "please give me your opionion on vegan food based on one thing you tried once at your cousin's house". Maybe that's their opinion but so many foods that we normally eat every day are vegan. And note that I am not even a vegan even though I do my best not to eat any animal products.

Oh I wasn't referring to Shattered specifically. It was more the people on page one who were being straight-up rude and unhelpful. It was frustrating to read through. I am a vegetarian, and I get really tired of people making comments like that to me both IRL and online. It is good that you try to avoid animal products! Every little bit helps! ^-^

Well, i apologize if my statement was offensive. I had vegan food before, i was even going thru a vegetarian phase, trying to
lose weight and eat healthier for a few months and i hated it so don't assume that i just eaten "one thing you tried once at your cousin's house". I still stick with my comment saying that most food made for vegan and vegetarian are just cheap, healthier versions of common foods that don't really have much flavor.

You have to admit that the OP saying how that brand of vegan cheese smelled and tasted gross was basically an invitation for vegan bashing. If you put bait in the water, the fish will come swimming over. ;)

On that note, is vegan fish a thing?

My comment was in no way an invitation to bash vegans. I did know when posting this that the word vegan was triggering. But I didn't expect some people to be rude and unhelpful.

My comment wasn't about all vegan cheeses, just diaya cheese. Since it was the one I bought. Will edit this post in a bit to respond to all those who helped. Thank you

Hey everyone. Please remember to be respectful when posting, and if you have nothing nice and/or contributory to say, simply don't post at all. Posting about how horrible vegan food is and how the lifestyle is outrageous isn't helpful at all, and quite frankly is pretty disrespectful when someone's simply asking for advice about which foods to try. Please keep this in mind and think before you post!

Best of luck finding some good cheese, Furisoa.

THIS product is really delicious actually and tastes like the real thing (without the "fishy" taste. It's the only "fish" I have tried though, as I'm sure there are more kinds out there.

Apparently you can also make salmon out of carrots. Haven't tried this recipe but it looks fascinating!

I haven't tried that one yet! I have been nervous, but I like the 'meatballs' and 'chicken' fingers they make. ^-^ Salmon out of carrots seems very interesting! I will have to try that! ^-^

I've never tried vegan cheese, didn't even know it was a thing but it could be nice if its like them cheese things you get in curry that's not actually cheese.

I buy Violife. They also have a pizza cheese which melts better than the original. It's the only vegan cheese I've found I like so far. I've been vegan for a year and a half and it's the best decision I ever made. Healthier & happier than ever! Good luck on your vegan cheese hunt ~

cheese in general is gross but i can't imagine vegan cheese being any better. if it smells like ass it's probably made out of ass :<

you said you recently went vegeterian. They just cut out meat, not the products too. ok enough of me being a smart-ass. anyways vegan cheese is expensive and sad
