I got the 2.0 update but unfortunately didn’t have enough time to explore enough. I’m wondering for anyone who was able to find out, are events still timelocked in the 2.0 update? Or did Nintendo unlock everything?
Not anymore, they're not! One of my islands was in February 2022 for random design reasons pre update.
I updated, went back in, Festivale decorations were up! I TT'ed to Festivale '22, and it was on!
I then jumped to Halloween 2023 and it also was in Halloween mode, so definitely not time locked anymore!![]()

I agree that it’s good they’re unlocked since they said there won’t be any more major updates. As for the NYE stuff, now that you brought it up, I wonder too…As it's menat to be final update, I'm really glad all of events are unlocked. Not planning to TT - but I don't want to be depended on Nintendo, if they may or may not unlock any event if they will not support this game any longer.
And just my final concern... as I got "New Year's Arch" (not remember exact name) with "2021" - what item will be provided on New Year's Eve this year, year after, 10 years after... probably this hasn't been addressed at all.

That's an item they could easily patch into the seasonal tab every year until development dies completely.
It would be a great idea... or just "Happy New Year".They may just patch in general new year things later that could be reused. Like a balloon arch without a year on it.
