I’m 27 and I spend a lot of my down time playing video games. My partner enjoys playing games too and we often spend our relaxation time playing our favorite games next to each other.
I think it’s really fun and I like having a partner that understands why I love playing games. I check my games daily. I get into little obsessions sometimes when I get a new game, and he does too.
My family thinks I’m way too old to be playing video games. They also look down on my partner for playing them as well. I want to note that I’m a pretty successful person; I have graduated college, I have a degree and I’m working full time as a teacher. But I get exhausted and I want to escape, and coming home and playing my games, especially animal crossing really helps with that.
I have other things I do in my life to relieve myself of stress and anxiety too, but video games is a big one when I don’t have time to travel and do things that I want to.
I think video games like animal crossing are a really good tool for relieving stress and anxiety that other people don’t often understand. Especially the older generation. I do make sure that I limit myself, but it also helps my imagination and creativity to explore the worlds in all the video games that I love.
I’m more so just ranting, but I’d love to hear if other people feel the same way about playing video games, or have other judge them for playing video games and being older than a child.
