Villager homes when they move out

Hello I am sorry if this q has already been covered but I can't find the answer.

When your villager moves out does their house completely disappear for you to choose a new plot or is the plot left behind for the next villager to move into?

Also, does scanning amiibo work like in NL (so I can kick anyone out after the island is full to replace with amiibo??)

Yes, the plot that the home was in stays there, and yes, you can kick out a character using the amiibo cards and the campsite.
