So... the other day Roald pinged me and he was like "hey Plucky and I were thinking and this would be perfect for our town!" and he gave me a manhole cover... which... whatever. I sold it to the Nooklings.
But now Plucky pinged me and goes "hey so Roald told you about our plan blabla, here's another thing for you!" and it was ANOTHER MANHOLE COVER!

Is this just a huge coincidence or am I really supposed to place this cover somewhere in order to progress?
I'm scared now so I just placed it somewhere in my town haha.

I think this happened to me the other day with Hazel. (or Flip can't remember which) They gave me a drinking fountain. (I ended up placing it near the airport for thirsty visitors )

The ping is probably just part of the tutorial phase to show you they give gifts and whatnot. You can also give one back after that iirc. I also got a manhole cover from Scoot and a public bench from Ursula. They look hideous and doesn’t look great with my woodsy vibe at the moment but I put them out anyways because I didn’t to risk missing some kind of tutorial step :’D

Most likely a coincidence. I've been pinged 5 times before. The first two were Mira and Buck giving me materials for the shop, the third time was Mira giving me a stone tablet, the fourth was Buck giving me a manhole cover, and the fifth one was Egbert giving me a shell fountain.
