So its confirmed that New Horizons will have 383 villagers total.
New Leaf had 333 by its release.
+ 50 were added when the welcome amiibo update hit (old villagers)
+ several villagers activated through Amiibos or sanrio cards

We also saw some completly new villagers and villagers from the pool, that came with the welcome amiibo update.
333 + 50 = 383
383 + several new villagers added in new horizons = ???

But the total number is already 383. So its more like

something less than 383 + new villagers added in new horizons= 383
and the first part made me scared, that they cutted some villagers. I hope I?m wrong

I think the tweets were just misunderstood -- it was likely confirmation that all 383 previous villagers, who were customers of Nooks' Homes in New Leaf are returning, plus new ones.

Ooooh, thats great to hear. Hope its like that way

i doubt any of them were cut - the tweet was translated so it, like khaelis said, likely meant to say that all 383 villagers from new leaf will be returning, excluding any new ones that new horizons introduces

I think it was already confirmed that the sanrio and nintendo themed villagers are getting cut. There was another thread on this forum about it.

If the 383 is indeed including all the new villagers that they created, which so far only been like 7 new villagers, than I guess some got cut.

I'm a little sad I can't have Felyne and Epona again.
I love those guys.

I kind of... hope they remove some of the really unpopular characters, to be honest. I know someone's most hated is also someone else's favorite, though.

It’s a shame they are cutting Elotie, she and Toby where the only good looking ones anyways.

Guys, I already said if they cut villagers, they're doing it because they're getting a personality transplant! I dunno how I feel about it but I'm sure of it! ( ᵕᴗᵕ )*・☪︎?̩͙

Or that they need to renew the License with Sanrio and with the creators of Zelda and monster hunter respectively for them to come back (since the developers of ac also worked on splatoon I don’t know how that will work if it’s a different IP or what) since the cut villagers were collaborations and not main stays of the series (I’ll miss epona and medli though)

I don't see a problem with the renewal since Sanrio is a beloved company and get promotion through the characters ☆
For me, I love seeing crossovers and there are some things that would persuade me to try a game of I love it in a game I love haha (◍︎˃̶ᗜ˂̶◍︎)✩︎

So it's the so much the renewal rather than it is the events that have yet to take place.
I love the crossover characters even though I've never played the games.

I think they'll add more in events and we can unlock them or purchase them with Nook Miles?

I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us!!! ₍ᐢ⸝⸝› ̫ ‹⸝⸝ᐢ₎

I think Pocket Camp got Sanrio stuff, so I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually renew the license for New Horizons as well. Fingers crossed! I really liked some of those furniture sets and would love to see them make a return.
