Now I want to know how all of you guys feel about it.
I personally avoid it at all costs because of how they treat their employees, low pay, and they don't allow them to organize a union to attempt to negotiate better pay or benefits. I understand why people hate it for ruining small business. It is almost impossible to start a store on your own now. If you do you need something unique.

But truthfully is it really that great to end up with every town in the US ending up with carbon copied stores? you see the same businesses everywhere, the same McDonald's, Jewel, Pamida, Walgreens, Mejers, Target....and the list goes on. I really enjoy small towns because many have withstood a lot of it. They still have small gas station food store with the best ice cream around, or the general store/pizzaria across the lake.

Many generic companies have overshadowed the value of being able to go into a store and knowing the owner personally. I don't like how America has turned for many of these reasons.

But the commercials rock

Also, unions today are nothing but trouble the majority of the time.

"I want more money" "I want safety" "I want to see my daughter before she goes to sleep at least once a month"

Just plain selfish

But honestly, Wal-Mart is good at what it does. Eventually, we will get a non-corrupt government and end the big businesses such as Wal-Mart and Microsoft.

Until then, I'm going to keep buying those skies on sale for when I think about going skiing

I don't like Wal-Mart because of all the bad activity that happens there. When I go I'm fine there. Also, what is Jewel Pamida and Mejers? I personally like big stores, as long as the insides look ok, if the insides are ugly I hate going there. I never really go to small stores when I go to a store.

Well some chains aren't everywhere, Pamida....is a weird store that sells a very cheap assortment of things, Jewel is a grocery store...I am surprised you don' know that one....and Mejers is basically a super walmart from my experience.

I wouldn't trust them for skies....they don't always have the best quality items either...

That doesn't stop IKEA

I really hate K-Mart, it's just it's dirty, and the workers don't really know what they're doing.

Target's the exact opposite, I love it, want to work there, and it's clean and amazing. xD

Target is definately better. At least they pay their employees better.

Ah, the woes of rampant capitalism.

Over here we have a subsidiary of Wal-Mart called ASDA. It's basically identical to Wal-Mart (they stock the same stuff- I've compared the two when I've been in the States

:p ). I am not, however, sure of the treatment of the employees at ASDA. What I do know is that in general, the goods are crap. The local ASDA here is a giant warehouse-like dump. I haven't been there since about 1998, and there's a good reason for that. Go a little more up-market, guys!

I dont know much about the service and quality and employee treatment but I HATE Wal mart im sure its different in another town but where i live which is a border town its just a bunch of people that dont give a crap and its way too crowded and everyone is dumb i love target its the best little store to go for games and little things like toothpaste and such i just got back from target.

Note to you: Walmart is in Canada, too

:p And basically it's the only major retailer in my town. The only place to get videogames, one of the five you can buy clothes at, one of the three shoe sellers, and the only place you can buy pans and pots and stuff.

I do agree with the part about not knowing the store owner, but every other store in my town you'd know the name of, if not knowing them personally.
