Was I the only one who failed at Halloween!?

i didn't even realise you could fail at having a halloween costume!! i just put on a witch hat and a cat nose on top of my usual outfit and that was good enough for all of my villagers

I think It is either random or you need 1 item from the new Halloween release [headwear or main clothing]. Or perhaps using dark colours?
I went out as a ghostly ballerina with imp wings, white paint and halo but it wasn't good enough so I switched it with fairy dress and imp horns which worked.

It would be nice if they considered the other clothing as I liked mixing up my own costumes rather then depend on the Halloween update costumes.

Haha, I just had my normal outfit on but I wore the striped witch hat and some wings and they all loved it. I guess you needed 2 specific Halloween items?

I think you need (at the very least) one of the head pieces from the October update. My friend just got the game very recently so she didn't have anything to wear. She got Jack's outfit and just wore the head portion. Everything else she was wearing was normal clothing. It worked and she looked ridiculous, haha. Just imagine Jack's head but with pink sandals, blue jean shorts and a polka dot shirt

I was worried about what would count as a costume so I went all out. Wore the entire mage set and some wings.

I know that feeling. I wanted to be a mermaid princess and but my villagers weren't having any of that! So I ended up being a witch for the first half and a pirate for the second half.

I just went with the default mage’s outfit and didn’t have any problems with villagers rejecting my costume. I didn’t even know that was a thing! I figured that we had to use one of the specific costumes to get through the event, even though Ables regularly sells different types of costumes. Honestly that’s pretty lame. I wasn’t a fan of the default Halloween costume designs. And it was so hard to find costume footwear!

oof yeah the system is broken :////// i was wearing a jester's costume so yeah that worked out. i was gonna be pietro since i had a dress that i downloaded and it was a nice outfit and all but im glad i went with the jester outfit lol

I just dressed as a skeleton until I got Jack's outfit, then my three-year-old son thought that was hilarious, so we're still wearing it today!

Nobody would accept my "orc" costume (viking hat and top + green skin and scar pattern for face pattern) I was really disappointed I put on some green horns instead of the hat and they didn't like that either, so I ended up wearing Jack's robe that he gives you. They were fine with it then but I looked so stupid

it's annoying that only the new clothes from the update are considered a halloween costume when there are plenty of good costumes not using any of those items...

Completely agreed. Wore a full wizard costume and it wasn't considered one.
