I love how you complain when they sting you or when they even fly near you, but we are the ones actively destroying their lives. They feel threatened by you for obvious reasons.
Its fair if you're allergic to them and if you want to protect your child.
But killing them on sight is messed up.
Eh, I know they're not actively seeking to destroy my life, and I totally agree with the whole "killing them is bad" thing. Heck, the pollination of my mother's favorite rosemary bush in our yard (which I find weird because I think they're carnivores, but whatever) is nothing to complain about, and for the most part, my only beef with them is that they look kinda creepy to me. Suffering numerous bites/stings from them as a kid surely slowed the process of acceptance though.
There's actually a cute/funny wasp story I just remembered: My family was at a picnic for our church, and after everyone had had their meal and was just kinda hanging around, a wasp from a nest in one of the park's trees noticed a scrap of chicken and seized the opportunity for free food... or at least tried to. He wrapped his legs around it and intermittently buzzing his wings, to no avail. He gave up trying for the full piece eventually and settled for slicing off chunks with his mandibles to carry back to the nest one at a time. This worked out great for him... until he tried to pick up the whole piece again. This time it was obviously smaller, and he actually was able to move it. And by "move it" I mean slide around on the table with it because he still couldn't actually take off. ...Theeen he plummeted off the side of the table, which was apparently just the boost in momentum he needed to actually take off, granted it wasn't without its hitches; his rate of incline was barely there, and he had regular dips in altitude, but he eventually had carried the entire meat chunk back to his colony, where I assume he got five medals and a promotion or something. Thank you, Sgt. Meathead, you're an inspiration to wasps everywhere.
So yeah. Heh, overconfidence is a trait I'm honestly not surprised to see a wasp display, and he seemed pretty chill about our party. I can say without a doubt he showed the most personality of any insect I've seen in his short episode of "GOTTA SCAVENGE FAST" alone.
