We should be able to fit more people into private chats

So me and 13 other people are all very good friends and we refer to ourselves as the basement dwellers, and we used to basically chat on Last Person to Post Wins. Well today we got a warning for going off topic and we essentially have no where to go now.
Yeah we could use general discussion thread but we don't really like it there.. Too many politics being discussed there
So we have like over 20 different private chats but it sucks because not everyone can be in one and people miss out on stuff :c
Itd be so much easier if we could just fit everyone into one private chat.
We can't just use discord either.
I think we should be able to fit at least 15-20 people into one.
Who agrees with me?

why not just move to a private discord server? convos would move just as quickly (if not quicker) and you shouldn't run into issues with member count.

i mean if you're too young to have a discord you're also too young to be on this forum, but assuming that's not an issue, it takes like 3 seconds to make a discord and you dont even have to tie an email to one.

that being said, I understand the sentiment but forums simply aren't built for casual chatting.

Mikaiah has a good point, I mean you don't even have to download the app or install it on your computer you can just use your web browser and it will work perfectly fine. Sucks that you can only use it to talk to one person though? Is it your parent's rules or something? I just think it's kinda weird that they'll let you use other sites but not allow you to talk to other people on discord

Anyways you can try using vms on here too or "status" / profile messages idk why they changed what it's called

Another alternative would be a website like chatzy which I used to use back in my time

I do have Discord but I can only use it for one person :v my parents rules

They don't even know I'm on this forum or talk to people on here so like hhhhh idk

personally i'd think discord would be the best way to make this work as well but if you're completely sure your parents wouldn't allow it idk what to do in that case, google used to have a chatroom type service too but im pretty sure its been discontinued, it was called hangouts, maybe try looking into that?

I would probably use a different chatting application. They most likely have the limit for a reason, and I'm not sure if there is a message limit in private chats.

What about a private chatroom type? I remember using Xat chats back in the day when I was in the Pokemon community. You could make the group chat private so nobody else could join.

The intention behind asking you to stop posting in that thread wasn't to prevent you from speaking to your friends. The problem was that you were having an off topic conversation in a thread intended for a completely different purpose. It was a game thread. This was unfair on the users who actually wanted to play the game.

As you were told previously, we left the Captain Rosie and the Candy Crew thread open for your friend group to use as a chat thread because most of you were already actively posting in it anyway. If the problem is the title of this thread then we can change that for you if you would like to select a new one.
