Well, I’m in it just for the pole vaulting!

I fell in love with this image ... it?s just the sheer joy it evokes ... and this is why I will always be an Animal Crossing fan ❤️ ... I love the art, the gameplay, the dialogue

So, I can hardly wait ... I am projecting my character (will I still be Penelope?) vaulting over the river
I am contemplating the name TuboLulu for my Island ... of course things can always change

Hmmmm ... wonder if they could snap and break in mid vault!? What fun!!

Yeah that would be bad if it broke and the character fell in the river but I think it's more likely it can't break or if it does break it breaks and your character lands on the other side

craftable tools can break in this game, and given the pressure put on this tool in particular (plus its materials being super cheap from what I remember), I somewhat expect it to be among the more commonly broken tools

more likely it will snap with the player being on either side of the river, though I'd actually love it if the player had a chance to fall in and came with an animation of them swimming to land and climbing out of the river

I am so interested in seeing what else this game has up its sleeve because literally no one could have predicted pole vaulting over a river would be a thing before the trailer. I've heard mining for ore inside caves and scuba diving be brought up as theoretical new features and it doesn't surprise me if we can also do the casual Olympic sport of pole vaulting

Has anyone else thought maybe this is also the way we can traverse up the higher elevations on the island?

I think it would be quite funny if the pole could break mid flight. We already had cliff diving in NL so why not?

The only problem I see regarding breaking is getting stuck. What if you crossed the river and suddenly you can't get back, because you don't have another pole and can't craft a new one, because you don't have access to a crafting bench on this side of the river?

bridges will probably still be a thing, with a necessity for one to be accessible at all times

beyond that, just save and quit

Where did they say that? Did I just completely miss something? xD;
I don't mind - that actually sounds pretty awesome. Just wondering how they'll implement it, if you can get stuck on the other side of the river, or if it stops you from getting stuck, or if there's a way to craft a new pole on the other side of the river.

it was during the treehouse stream

one of the things they showed off was the nook miles system (basically nh's version of badges) with one of the things you could earn miles on being breaking tools

and given how dingy the new caftable tools look, well...

and again, bridges

Ah, okay! Thanks! Missed that, obviously.

Bridges work fine later in the game, but I doubt we'll be able to craft them right away. I imagine they're mainly there for convenience, and so you don't have to constantly have a pole with you.

I was thinking more of the start of the game without bridges. I guess we can't craft before placing our tent, so you can only place it on the same part of the island as the crafting station and this won't be an issue. But I have to say I'm quite interested to see what Nintendo will do with the idea of breaking tools in the new game.

The way I see the pole can break is when after you vault, the pole will snap in half, leaving you on the other side of the river.
Resulting in a game over.

I doubt it'll ever break, as what if you never want to build a bridge?

finally.... the time has come... we can yeet ourselves in animal crossing

I'm really excited for the game and I think the pole vault was a neat idea they implemented into it. Also, I don't think it will break either. If it does, that just doesn't make any sense to leave you stuck on the other side of the river where you can't get back. Can't wait to see more features possibly in the coming months. :)

I'm so excited for this! The whole trailer got me hyped, but this was just the icing on the cake. It looks like so much fun!

I wonder if villagers will be able to pole vault, too? I really hope so, it'd be such a cute sight!

the pole vaulting is already my new favorite tool. i wonder if we'll see any other new tools? i'd love it if we got pickaxes. i want that mining theory to be real so badly.
