Went to donate my final bug to Blathers, and...

...he just did the usual 'thank you' dialogue without referencing the fact I'd completed the bug collection thanks to the dung beetle.

Turns out I never donated a yellow butterfly for some reason!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!

Ouch, that's a harsh realization. When does the yellow butterfly come back?

Oh no!!! It's ok, you'll get it done. (Do you TT? Might have to go back for that one...)

I made the same mistake, except for me it's the rice grass hopper I never donated. I'm guessing with all the different types of grasshoppers, I accidentally sold mine instead of donating. Now I need to wait for them to show up in the Southern Hemisphere, and find a friend to let me look for it, since I'm in the Northern Hemisphere.

It's so frustrating, isn't it?!

It wouldn't be as bad, but I play with my son, who's three. He was so excited to finish the bug section, but I had to tell him I'd messed up.

The yellow butterfly might be available right now in the Southern Hemisphere. If you have Nintendo Online, you could go to someone's island and look.

I did the exact same time only with the fish exhibit. I donated the stringfish and I didn't get any special dialogue. I doubled checked my critterpedia and I never donated a mitten crab but luckily I had an extra one sitting in my storage.

That's lucky!

I couldn't believe it when I realised I'd missed one. I have no idea how it happened.

I have a southern island and I also don't TT so I still have yellow butterflies. I'll be able to play in about half an hour or so . If you still need to catch it, you'll have almost an hour to find one (they're pretty common), as it's almost 6 pm here and they are available until 7pm

That would be awesome!

Thank you so much.

Is there anything you'd like in return?

Well, thanks to the thoroughly awesome @Raz , I now have a yellow butterfly ready for my son to donate tomorrow.

He even left me a net and helped track the butterfly down for me!

Thank you so much - it's things like this which make this forum great.

It was a pleasure to be able to help!

My last bug is the walking stick but I never even saw one in game 😭

They're tricky to find. Their spawn rate is low, and you have to pay a lot of attention to the trees in order to spot them before they go away.

It's like the beetles, in which you need to be actively looking for them.

Oh no!! that is so frustrating. If I were you I'd be super tempted to tt to get the yellow butterfly, and I am really strict with myself about tt.

The only time I ever tt'ed was 15 minutes after midnight on July 1st when I realized I hadn't caught all 3 fireflies I needed to make the model. I was just not willing to wait a whole year for that when I missed it by 15 minutes lmao. Had to leave all my turnips for the week on a friend's island while I did it and felt super guilty, but at least I didn't have to wait a year. Forgetfulness in AC is the worst.
