smoke on the water is an easy song. most people i know who "play" can only do SOTW lol

also some nirvana songs (maybe all i dont wanna sound like a know it all) are mostly power chords. try SLTS

this is weird, but All Star by Smashmouth. It's literally 4 chords and its so easy. also, this other song called Hidden in The Sand by Tally Hall, it's my favorite song to play on the Uke. i use an app (that, yes, is $3, but its so amazing) that you can look up literally any song and theres chords for guitar, base, and ukulele. people can submit songs and its awesome, i totally reccomend that! (Guitar Tabs, or maybe just Tabs.)

Okay! Something I can contribute to.

I've been playing the ukulele for about 3 years now, and I have 10+ years total music experience in general. I'm not gonna give you the easy ways out, because there aren't any if you want to make music.

Chords are a good place to start. It helps you remember how to position yourself when you play, and it also offers room for creativity for different rhythms and strumming patterns. But don't limit yourself to chords! Learn how the instrument functions. Learn what strings are which, learn how to transpose the chords you learn to create new voicings for chords - that's when you play a chord, but the notes are in a different order. Have fun with your uke, but remember to always keep pushing yourself. You know "all" the chords? Try some 7th chords and learn how they work. You know how to play a song? Try and understand the harmonies within the song that make it sound good. Playing an instrument isn't just about learning how to play your favourite songs - it's about exploring music as a whole.

That is, if you want to make music.

I think one of the first songs I started learning was These Boots Are Made For Walking with a melody also, but I wouldn't recommend that to someone just starting out unless you have prior music experience and an iron-cast determination. Try finding some chords for a favourite song, and going from there! There are plenty of sites with chords for hundreds of songs. If you need any help with your uke, I'm always up for a chat. I don't bite. <3

Good luck with your musical journey!
