What are some subreddits you like to visit?

I don't go on Reddit much, but I occasionally enjoy browsing through r/AITA and r/AskReddit. Though I mostly see posts from those subreddits on other platforms like Instagram and TikTok rather than on Reddit itself. I like the slideshows people make of AskReddit and AITA posts and their most popular answers. Even if a lot of the questions asked on AskReddit are repetitive and a lot of the stories on AITA are fake, they're still entertaining to read!

r/Petloss was a comfort to me when I lost my cats in 2021 and 2022. I didn't really post much there, but seeing everyone's posts made me feel less alone and less crazy for grieving my girls so strongly. I also used to love r/nosleep!

I don't really care for reddit. It's a great place if you have a real question that can be easily answered. Like a diy question or troubleshooting why some device is not behaving like it should. But other than that it's a messy echo chamber and often a place where people write up fake stories for points. And when they're not, it's usually people omitting the full story so they can get sympathy points to feel better about something they really shouldn't. Or everyone is trying to be 'the funny guy' and so it takes forever to scroll through a post to find any useful comments/help that isn't just 'hur hur my joke comment'

But even so, I am finding the diy subs to be full of rude elitism now. I once asked how to get rid of old antique smells. I used to have a very old steamer chest that had the worst smells inside it. I simply asked the subs if anyone had surefire go to remedies for getting rid of stubborn old smells. All I got was a lot of attitude for not posting a picture of the chest. Which wouldn't help them anyway because as far as I know we don't have the technology to send antique stank yet.

I humored them and uploaded a picture only for them to give me a huge list of things to do that didn't even have anything to do with getting rid of the smell.

I used to look at a sub of vintage hot guys. I don’t check in as often, because lately they’ve been posting a bunch of guys who aren’t my type. (Where’s the love for my thicc chubby guys?? 😜) But worst of all, they tend to romanticize men who did bad things. (Not killers, but men who were abusive.)

I think they are struggling to find pics, as they started posting vintage women there, too. Which is fine, but not the initial intention….

My favourited subreddits are:

r/AskReddit
r/30PlusSkinCare
r/askscience
r/BaldursGate3
r/books
r/OutOfTheLoop
r/patientgamers
r/science

Another one I’ve started getting into is r/popculturechat. I mostly look at older posts on there, but it’s still fun to catch up on celebrity news and learn some lesser-known facts.

My preferred ones are the Nintendo3ds, gameboys, wii, and ds subreddits. I used to like visiting subreddits about dolls. But one of them added bad new rule(it was about having to add additional details of the doll in any post which was unnecessary). And one of the other subreddits had too many bad users and mods. So I dont post often as i used to on there. I just enjoy looking at the photos of people's collections or finds. I also have another favorite subreddit where i just look and read. I find funny comments in that one. Otherwise I just use it to find the anwser I need or ask a question. Its helpful especially when keeping up whats happening in doll collecting world.

Tbh I only really use reddit when I need answers to something. Even then, I don't and don't plan to ever make an account on it. It just doesn't interest me at all, and people I see when I visit it are often rude or vulgar, which I'm not a fan of
