What are your island ideas?

Hey all!

I made this thread so you guys can share what your ideas are for your island.

I'll go first!

I'm planning to move all the trees to the center of the island for optimal profit, have 2 separate towns with each of them having different themes depending on the season, and I will also try to make the wilderness parts of the island have lots more details, such as waterfalls and other small things of the sort.

Now it's your turn! Share with me your fabulous ideas.

i haven’t figured out much in terms of decorating besides room designs, but i know i want my island to be covered in fruit trees of all kinds along with all colours of tulips except for black (i’ll be missing out on the new flowers but the tulips look the best to me and when i envision my island, i see tulips). i also want a bunch of those glowing mushrooms that were either shown in the direct or one of the trailers/commercials - idk where i’ll put that yet but maybe near my side character’s house whose whole theme is nature/seasons. that’s about all i’ve got rn but i just want a really bright and colourful island lol

Here are some ideas I've been playing with. I'm not necessarily doing all of this, but they're some ideas I have.

Shopping District:
-Major shops in one area of the map,
near RS.
-Pathways connecting shops
-Leave room for seasonal decorations
outside of the shops.
-Decorations outside, like maybe a
clothes rack and sale signs outside
Able Sisters, etc.

Residential District:
-Houses possibly in one area, but not
too close together.
-Leave room for "yards"
*Fences, gardens, trees, etc.

Botanical Gardens:
-Lots of flowers, benches, fountains,
etc.
-Museum in the botanical garden
*Outdoor fossil display?
*Pond or large fountain out front.
*Sculptures and topiaries out
front, with benches.
-The Roost
*Outdoor cafe seating

Enchanted Forrest
- Mushrooms, stone statues/circles, spooky
decorations, pine trees.

Public Park:
-Playground
*Jungle gym, slides, and other
play equipment.
*Sandbox
*BBQ/Picnic area
*Drinking fountain and trash bin

Beach and Boardwalk:
- Possibly rides
- Food and drink stalls
- Decorated beaches
*Chairs, umbrellas, sandcastles,
balls, pail and shovel, etc.

At first I was just going to play the game with eyes closed and let what ever happens be, but the idea you have is amazing! You don't mind me stealing your island idea? Lol I'm only joking XD.

But in all honesty I plan on making a metropolis near the airport and slowly as the island begins to go to the upper right I plan on transitioning from a city to farm life, like a forest and stuff. Near the top left I plan on making a dedicated beach house area sort of like Malibu. Finally, near the bottom right I intend to put creative design over there. Maybe a theme park.

Gosh there's sooooo much things to do in ACNH compared to the past games. The possibilities are limitless.

P.S. near the air port I intend to have a designated spot where hand sanitizer, toilet paper rolls, and masks are handed out lol. Don't want my villagers getting sick XD

Nice ideas!!! Just make sure the villagers give you 100k bells for each hand sanitizer use. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Oh definitely!! I might even make a military base near the airport to quarantine them for 2 weeks lol XD

I am going to build my town and shops by the beach, I am hoping for a Santa Monica vibe. Then a suburban housing area with gardens and a fitness park. Ideally, I want lots of forest/wilderness. In the back corner across from the beach I am going to build a plateau/look out as high as I can terraform to serve as a view point for my island.

I haven't fully mapped out what I will do either yet haha. I have a rough idea, but I gotta see all that furniture first before I make any final decisions.

I love your idea for your island! But the Forrest part bring back some PTSD for me lol. I planted 1 bamboo sprout in ACNL and I complete forgot about it for 4 months (This part of my town had no villagers) It was a mess lol XD I tried to find my golden axe but I think I sold it or something, it took 3 hours of me purchasing regular axes and cutting them.

Anyways, I digress lol. I love the plateau idea, I might also steal this idea from you XD I'm joking lmao.

An idea I thought of is remaking the town from one’s GameCube version! How nostalgic would that be, haha. I don’t think I’ll attempt it myself but if anyone does give homage to their OG game, I’d love to see it! ^_^
This time, one could actually add the bakery the villagers always talked about. XD

My current plan is to make a rustic village on a mountain/valley. I'm going to heavily abuse the cliff landscaping to make a REALLY unique town. Your jaws will drop with what I got planned.

I haven’t planned it out super far yet... But I know I want to put my house right under (on the side) of one of the waterfalls!
I also know I want an incredible number of trees. Lots of nice shade and relaxing furniture outside.
That’s all i’ve got so far, lol.

I am hoping to try and reproduce the place where I was born and raised. I will name my island after a mountain range from the area. To reproduce it, I will make good use of terraforming and will have lots of natural areas and some strategically placed items in the upper part of the island. The lower part will have shops, a market place and a village green.


Villager houses will be placed along a winding road which will run from the upper to the lower part of the island. All villagers’ houses will have unique front gardens (all planned already). I intend to plan the final place for the river and other water areas after I have completed planning the lower part of the island.

The beach area will have sunbeds, coconut trees, BBQ area and a food & drinks stall.

I have plenty of ideas! It will all depend on how early terraforming can happen in this game but it should be exciting!

I have a map of my City Folk town and it had a nice layout. I was thinking of trying to replicate layout as best I can.

Anyhow, I was going to try to have a Main Street area were the town hall is, a neighborhood, and a fence around my player character's house.

I've been looking at videos and I'm looking to have mysterious items to place outside. To use New Leaf as a reference point, have the Mouth of Truth, Stonehenge, that spinning cube.
