What are your opinions on amibo!?

Typical selling trick tbh, and since EU cards only contains 3 cards in a pack rather than 6, huge rip off for us so I refuse to even but then. As for the figures, I do own two because I like K.K and Kirby. And I bought the Waddle Dee one for my bf when it was his birthday because I know he likes the Kirby universe as I do.

But yeah, obviously a trick especially to get people to buy a new 3ds, and if you have an old you gotta pay to even make use of it, yet they still support older models.

As for the Wii ones I don't have a Wii U even if I can like some of them as collector's things.

I love amiibo figures! They are kinda expensive and also useless but the quality of the figures is amazing!

The cards do annoy me however, like Sheila said, EU packs only have 3 cards included while NA has 6 cards and the price is exactly the same. It's just mean cri :(

^yeah they are way too expensive where I live, like 20 bucks or something unless they lowered it already for actual amiibos. And yeah I refuse to buy those packs unless they were to get on sale or stuff, dude not paying full price for half the cards man.

Sometimes the amibos can be reasonably priced and if you're a collector then they're good. From a gaming perspective they're just really gimmicky and don't really add much value for money. They're definitely for the collector. As for the cards we in Europe are used to being ripped off in comparison to NA but the cards just takes that to a whole new level.

I don't know much about them but they seem like a typical money grabbing trick so I'm not buying them.

This is how I see the Amiibos from my point of view. I'm sure a few of you guys may disagree with me. Well, i think the Amiibos were made in a way to no only have fun with others like in Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival, but also to make little kids feel like they have a personal virtual friend in a way when playing something competitive like Super Smash brother and have a worthy rival or partner with the amiibo.

However, I have only been interested so far in getting Robin and Ness Amiibo and to be honest, if I only get those two, Ness will be useless because I believe he is only compatible with smash and 2 of the free games they give you, which gets boring quite easily. Robin is a little bit more useful for me with Code name: S.T.E.A.M and a few other games he may benefit from. But even then, they end up useless once done training or using them because aside from being high quality figurines, they end up collecting dust if you find no creative way to use them to have fun with unless you are with friends doing like team battles and switching team with your amiibos.

As for the Amiibo cards, I do kind of like them, but the problem is, like most card related thing, the one you'll want is always with a chance of luck which is another strategy for making money. People will get so hyped up searching for the villager they want, but probably end up wasting like $40 on a few packs just to get the one they want. I'm unlucky so, not going to buy Amiibo cards unless I feel like I have extra spending power.

In conclusion, Amiibos are nice and all, but they get rendered useless if you cannot find a creative way to play with them. Luckily, I have my neighbor for Smash and we end up doing creative ways to play with amiibos.

Definitely a waste of money. In terms of figurines (I'm not even a figurine collector, but I can say this for sure) they are very poorly made. In terms of what they add to games, they are just another form of DLC. A very expensive form of DLC. And then they made those blasted Amiibo cards, which are even worse. They are just glorified eCards. If you want something they add, good luck getting it without spending a fortune, since you can't even choose what card you want - the packs are randomized.

I'm too old for this stuff. Lol. I would have ate it up 13-14 years ago, but not anymore. At least back then the games were complete enough out of the box to make something like eCards not feel like they're robbing you of much.

Well, I was at one point a collector of amiibos. I have a very near complete collection of the smash amiibos, the only ones I'm missing being the mii characters (I hate them and refuse to buy them), Lucas, Roy, Ryu, and of course Bayonetta, Cloud, and Corrin since they haven't even been released yet (at least I don't think they have been? I haven't really kept up with the releases nowadays). Before I got my first amiibos from my now ex-girlfriend, I didn't think they were anything worth buying. They just looked like overpriced figurines that I would never even use if I got them. Sure there were a couple that I wanted because I mained those characters and I would've loved to have a little figure of them to represent my love for them, but I didn't think I would ever bother getting them, being that they were 13 dollars+ a pop..

However once I got my first ones, which were Samus, Peach, and Yoshi, I was basically screwed. I fell in love with them, not immediately but over time, and I began looking up amiibos that I didn't have yet but would probably enjoy having. It was a slow build up from just the characters that I liked into rare figures that I would just so happen to run into when they were back in stock in store. When I saw the rare ones that people were selling for like 30-40 dollars, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have them while they were market price because I felt like I would never have the chance to get them again without spending a fortune on them. So after I started getting characters that were rare even if I didn't much care for them, I started getting really into it. I would ALWAYS have tabs open with amiibo trackers that would play loud obnoxious sounds whenever they were back in stock. I would look at amiibos every time I was on my computer. I would keep up with all the latest releases. For certain amiibos that I REALLY wanted, I would even go to the stores the day before they released and wait outside in the lines just so I could assure myself one of them (yeah, it's dumb in hindsight). I now have a whopping total of 78 amiibos in my entire collection (including AC, Wooly World, Mario, Shovel Knight amiibos) and a very attractive looking wall lined with my collection of Smash amiibos.

If you add that all up, that's over $1000 dollars worth of amiibos ._. .. I never really spent over market price for any amiibos except for maybe one or two (only one I can think of at the moment is King Dedede which I payed about 25 for because I thought I would never get him at a cheaper price and he is one my mains). That is an absolute ridiculous amount of money, and I honestly want to sell them. I've been trying to sell my (near) complete collection of smash amiibos since that amount of money would be nice right about now, but I don't think anyone will be willing to spend an upwards of 700 dollars on a collection of amiibos right now (and that's breaking even, not making a profit). In hindsight I almost wish I didn't get into the amiibo craze, but I also don't really regret it because I absolutely love my collection. It's super nice to look at and I'd really rather not sell it, but money is tight right now.

But yes, all in all, I completely agree; it's a money grubbing scheme. For me though, even now, it's sometimes a very hard one to resist because of how appealing the character models are and just how much I love the characters of Nintendo. Luckily I've been able to resist buying them and the last one I bought was my Shovel Knight amiibo (and almost definitely the last one I will ever buy unless they come out with something I just simply cannot resist like a Shantae amiibo or something)

Yeah, Idek, the Kirby one I got with the Robobot game cause I bought the bundle and it's cute, yet but idek aside from giving it the UFO ability thing, well it's cute but I'd never bought it standalone. And the K.K because he's my favorite NPC and I wanted to make his room in HHD way way back I guess. But yeah nowadays I don't think I would buy one unless they made like all the Pok?mons or AC villagers, idek and yeah they are not worth their price here, nor are amiibo cards as I mentioned above.

And yeah might have to do with that I'm too old for just random game "DLC" things, I mean if they actually were nice collector's figurine I could have considered I guess.

I don't think the quality is too bad and I like being able to own mini figures of some of the more unique and niche Nintendo characters (like Shulk). The game compatibility is interesting (i guess) but it's not like it's anything I'd use frequently. Me and my brother used to collect them when they were first releasing and we have a bunch but our desire for them has really faded. The price just keeps adding up and up with each new buy it's not really worth it. If I ever decide to buy another amiibo its going to be Bayonetta, but who knows when that'll happen.

I love amiibos but sadly im poor c:

However im not the kind of guy who would have a entire collection about these, mostly because getting some are rare and can be a pain in the ass getting those and obviously if you find one it will cost you one eye of the face *ROSALINA AND VILLAGER*
I would only use them in the game they are supported (Smash / Kirby Planet Robobot / any-game-that-amiibo-can-be-used ftw)

Through , some amiibos are kinda useless *cough* SHOVEL KNIGHT AMIIBO (considering the only game you can use this piece of trash is in shovel knight to unlock multiplayer...)*cough* *cough*

About the cards i honestly dont care anymore ; I fact i dont play HHD anymore lol (Shame on me for not doing a room once a day oops)

we need Koopaling amiibos! I can actually see that happening in the future due to their popularity. well, if amiibos stayed in business all together

I mostly just bought the ones that I thought had a lot of detail like the Kid Icarus characters and the Smash Zelda characters. Though I did buy Sonic just because I wanted to paint it to look like Shadow. They are kind of expensive though and they don't do much to add to games. I do want the Link on Epona one mostly to paint it to look like Ezio and an armored horse from Assassin's Creed.

The Amiibo figures are definitely just a money grabbing scheme. That being said, I do appreciate them as figures. I like that they give you a chance to buy a figure of a character you might not normally be able to get merch of. In terms of how often I actually use them... very rarely. I think it's annoying having to keep scanning them when playing that AC Amiibo Festival game or the newest Mario Party. Heck, I can't even be bothered to scan them in Pokken Tournament in order to get the free costume stuff.

i had no struggle finding rosalina or villager?? i went to the gamestore last summer and they had tons of rosalina, and a couple of villagers idk if rosalina is rare or not thoh

Used to see them as a waste of money but idk I kinda like the smash amiibo's after my brother trained his Robin to be a monster. That's about it though.

Honestly I think they are a ridiculous money grab on Nintendo's part. I was kinda excited for them when I thought they DID things, but I haven't bought any because they are useless. Unlocking new costumes does not justify spending money on them.
