Last time, I went over what the GameCube Version had in common with the other Main Series Animal Crossing games. This time, I’m going over the other Main Series comparisons.
Wild World vs City Folk:
Just like how the GameCube Version and New Leaf were similar to each other, Wild World and City Folk were pretty much the same game, but with differences. Some liked Wild World more because of how City Folk didn’t do anything new while it introduced features people hated. Some people liked City Folk more because of how small and cramped Wild World was.
Just like how the GameCube Version is like City Folk for being on the console, Wild World is like New Leaf for being on the handheld. For that reason, there are a few similar features that the GameCube Version and City Folk lacked.
Just like how old school the GameCube Version and Wild World were, City Folk and New Leaf have similarities. Even though City Folk is no different than Wild World, it still introduced new features that helped shape Animal Crossing up to this day.

Just like how the GameCube Version and New Leaf were similar to each other, Wild World and City Folk were pretty much the same game, but with differences. - You had a town hall that integrated many buildings from the GameCube Version. It had a post office, a civic center, and a dumpster.
- You had the town gates, as Copper and Booker were British guards.
- You could donate Bells for a feather.
- Kapp’n was a public transportation driver, as that’s how you moved in.
- You had both ways of saving your game (anywhere in town or at home).
- The Museum had a Café and an observatory.
- You get letters from the HRA every Sunday.
- Getting the golden shovel had the same instructions.
- All soundtracks (including completion jingles and hourly music) are the same.
Just like how the GameCube Version is like City Folk for being on the console, Wild World is like New Leaf for being on the handheld. For that reason, there are a few similar features that the GameCube Version and City Folk lacked.
- Both came on cartridges rather than discs. You can even save towns to your cart.
- Both came on handhelds and can be played on the go. The downside? Limited battery life.
- Houses were bigger, but towns were smaller.
- The animal pictures.
- Your whole town was on one level of elevation.
- The Shampoodle was part of another building.
- Separate furniture categories (like HHA themes and genres).
- Resetti has limited dialogue.
- When they changed from the previous games, they split stores from each other into new facilities, they added new clothing options or other character customization options, and changed the location K.K. Slider played.
Just like how old school the GameCube Version and Wild World were, City Folk and New Leaf have similarities. Even though City Folk is no different than Wild World, it still introduced new features that helped shape Animal Crossing up to this day.
- GracieGrace and the Gracie themes (like the Sweets Series).
- The holidays you celebrate.
- Town projects and funding.
- Roaches are only pests.
- You can make pro designs, as simple designs are made anywhere.
- Grass wears down.
- Lyle is a member of the HRA/HHA.
- Quick tool swap.
- The ABD and its features.
