i stay up until im tired

i used to have a lot of trouble with insomnia but im on meds that make me tired so i usually get tired enough to sleep during the night. before i could stay up until 4 am and not be able to sleep but now i dont have that problem anymore.

I don't know about you, but counting to 100 never seems to work...

Does it even work?

If I'm finding it difficult to sleep then I'll usually just lay there until I do start nodding off to sleep. It's pointless to even reach for the technology as that will just keep me awake!

Listen to music that chills me out, or I'll just read stuff on my phone/watch videos.

Get back on my phone and usually fall asleep in the middle of watching YouTube. It seems to always work.

I lay in bed all night and remember every single embarrassing moment I've ever had
and contemplate basically all of my life decisions

then my tears put me to sleep

i'm kidding but only a little bit

I hope you rest easy tonight knowing that on more than one occasion your posts have made me laugh quite audibly. Pls hev gud dreems oki.

For real though, I just try to think about pleasant things. I try not to think about what I have to do the next day, or the latest thing that has bothered me. That reeeaaaaally doesn't help. I try not to use my phone since the screen glare keeps me awake but more often than not I end up doing that anyway and it just ruins whatever progress I had made.

I try to make my mind think of nothing. When it does work, it works wonders. I don't have the 100% accuracy with it though.

I have so much trouble falling asleep due to the constant stress of life. Recently I went to the ER because of chest pains from said stress so I've had so much difficulty with falling asleep. No one wants to talk to me so it's not like social media keeps me up. I tend to lie there and think about my ex who I still very much love even though he cheated on me. Usually I lie there for hours until I fall asleep thinking about him. My best advice would be to take medicine that makes you sleepy, I always take benedryl. Two if you really can't sleep. Don't eat before bed because it keeps your mind awake with the commands of digestion. Don't shower or bath before bed, these tend to wake you up as well. Maybe light a lavender candle for a few minutes and blow it out until the entire room smells like lavender. Also try some warm apple cider, warm milk (microwaved, not sitting out- eew!), Or warm decafinated tea. Don't drink anything with caffiene after 2pm. And lastly, try reading! It makes your eyes tired and you fall asleep in no time. Avoid technology an hour before bed, and don't do anything in your bed except sleep. Your brain will associate your bed with sleep then. Might also try a technique I learned :
Curl up really tight. Tighten all of your muscles in the fetal position. ALL OF THEM. Your toes and fingers, chest, neck, face, arms and shoulders, ankles. Alllll of it. Hold for as long as you can or after 30 seconds. Then go limp. As relaxed as you can. Just flop on the bed. Do this until you're super relaxed. Then go to sleep. :)

For some reason I can't fall asleep on my back, but lying on my back makes me really sleepy so doing that for like 15 min and then rolling over usually works.

The fastest way to sleep is to think of the things you a have done today. Sit still. Don't move. One move you break the "chain".

I listen/watch ASMR videos. That usually gets me drowsy but then after I will lay in my bed and play on my phone or read. Usually reading knocks me out fast.

After that, I lay in bed and force my eyes to stay closed. I find that if I keep them open, I can't fall asleep. But if I keep them closed, I am good. I'll pass out eventually.

Edit: oh and laying with my boyfriend. I dont know how he does it but man, I pass out instantly when I'm cuddling with him.
