If there's someone else in the room (like a friend or something when I'm sleeping on the couch and they're at my house) I fall asleep quickly. Otherwise I try to tire myself by listening to ASMR while I use my phone to unwind, just scrolling through my Instagram feed or watching Snapchat stories. I try not to get involved in conversations or something that will make me stay up, just 15 minutes or so to unwind and then I'm ready to sleep. If I still can't sleep I read my favorite children's books, they felt so long when I was a kid but now I can knock them out in half an hour, they usually contain about 15 chapters with like 8 pages each, some are longer are shorter. In general the soothing, playful vibe of the books help me fall asleep too.
I'm just on my computer or video games until I exhaust myself. Usually playing a difficult game that requires focus makes me realize exactly how tired I am in that moment, and after I die like 20+ times, I finally give up and go the hell to sleep lol
I go to youtube and find a dumb vlog or a story to listen to. then I set volume just low enough to hear and turn my screen to the wall and hop into bed. I usually fall asleep before the video even finishes~
i usually turn on netflix and watch something i've seen before like family guy or whatever and usually that puts me to sleep. if i'm really awake i'll watch youtube until i get tired
I try to focus on how comfortable my bed is. If I'm having trouble concentrating, I'll usually blink my eyes really fast or kick my legs. My mom used to change the channel to something she thought a kid would think was boring, like the history or discovery channels. It didn't work, though.
There's something I took up doing if I'm having a really hard time, I'll "flex" all of my muscles starting at my feet, so I'll like bend my toes 5 times, then rotate my ankles 5 times, then flex my calves, bend my kness, and so on all five times, usually I get tired from it really fast and fall asleep before I get to my head.
