What do you think of your in-game Mom?

Although constantly getting the same items does kind of get repetitive, i do get happy to see that they're trying to show you that your in-game mom cares about you I know it's a staple in the franchise, but i think it's a cute detail!! if only the dad would think of you just as often...

the in-game mom reminds me of my real mom. i favourite all of her messages and keep all her gifts because it feels like my mom was actually doing it....

i always enjoy getting the letters and gifts from mom! i personally adore the mom series items, they're so cozy and cute <3

The mom-thing reminds me of when I was in college back in the day and my mom would send me care packages. I remember getting a nice one for Easter with lots of chocolate bunnies. <3 So, mom in the game is nice but also kind of depressing since my actual mom passed away some years ago. Also, I know some people who have abusive moms in real life and who might not appreciate getting that mail. It would be nice to be able to toggle the mom option off. People could always trade to get any mom items they want.

It’s weird to me to get things I’m the mail from someone calling themselves my mom. Who is this person and why don’t they ever visit me. I like their cakes though.

Well, let's extrapolate a little bit.

Animal Crossing is just a hallucination of the main character, where they experience an ideal world, free from all the real world's pressures and problems. It's a safe haven of sorts, where money isn't an issue, work is a pleasure, mundane tasks are fun... So, "Mom" is just another piece of this very complex puzzle. Mom is the comfortable feeling that we have someone who cares and worries about us even when they're not present.

As the main character is a projection of the player, "Mom" in this case serves as a link to this feeling. Every letter she sends works as a "link" that reminds us that, just like the main character, even when we're isolated (be it physically or not), there's always someone out there who cares enough about us to reach out from time to time, to ask if everything is ok, and to try and comfort us.

i love the in game mom, i always saved all of her letters and gifts, her letters are just so sweet!

tho i was reading about the april fools day event in previous games and i believe in population growing she would send a letter saying the house got crushed by a tree i would be terrified if someone pulled a prank like that haha

I think she's very sweet. I can't tell if I'd like to see what she actually looks and sounds like or if having the mystery is better lol.

The in-game dad did use to write letters and on father's day would send you one and a special father's day carnation. They took him out of the game for some reason this time though.

It's nice to get letters from family. I also like the items she sends, particularly the sweaters. I wish game-Dad writes more often. Would be nice to have grandparents too.

I just love her item set! Probably some of the cutest items in the game. I love collecting multiples of each because the customizations are just so adorable!

You would hear from your in game dad in previous games on Father’s Day, where he would send you a carnation. That doesn’t happen in New Horizons, though. Still, no mention of this dad from the mom though which is weird. I wish we could respond. I feel like we’re ignoring her and that makes me sad.

I usually don't read her mail anymore only cause all the mum variants she sent me are always repeats or colours I do not like I have never gotten a gift from her I like
