I've heard MANY reviews about this game, good and bad. Im probably not going to get it. The whole idea is designing homes. I've also heard, that no matter what theme they give you, they will always like it.
EXAMPLE: Fauna: May I have a floral theme?
Me: Nah, I'll give you a grunge one.
Me: works on house
Fauna: I love it!
Apparently, the game is like this.

The game does seem good for younger kids, though. One thing I DO like about this game is the new customization options, which allow you to change your skin tone, and choose your face. I mean, this isn't going to be the best game, but it will be pretty good. "This isn't going to be the best game, but it will be pretty good." (wot lol)

I've been playing since release, and I like the game, but I don't love it. I don't, however, regret my purchase, and I felt it was worth the full price.

I think it's a perfect game for playing here and there. I rarely play more than one hour at a time or I get bored. But, when I'm feeling creative it's fun to decorate a house or two, then do something else. Plus, there will be 400 (or more) villagers and special characters to build houses for, plus you can go back and redecorate, so it's not a game that's finished quickly. I've been playing a lot with my boyfriend, and it's fun to do it together, so I wish there were some kind of multiplayer mode, but I can see why they decided not to include one.

I don't mind that there are no consequences for not following the themes, because the themes can be quite broad, and how do you "grade" them? For example "I want a room that's perfect for moon viewing." or "I want a room that's like a birthday party every day." There is, however, a checklist of items you should have in the house, and I tend to follow those.

It's also a lot of fun to see what other people have done with their houses, and share your own interpretations of the themes/pose and dress up the villagers, so I think the social media aspect of the game is spot on. However, if you're not interested in that, it could be quite boring.

I see, the game doesn't seem that bad coming from someone that actually has it. I don't think it came out in NA yet. I'll have to research on it a bit.

Psst! Millie! Look here -- it'll help get you started in your research.

If you browse the threads on this forum, you'll find gameplay videos, screenshots, etc. Enjoy!

p.s. you can also do a search on Twitter for the hashtag #achappyhome and see what our friends in Japan (and those outside of Japan that are playing on Japanese 3DSs) are doing in the game. There are so many pix being uploaded! Even as you scroll through the feed, more are uploaded every minute. It looks as though folks are really having fun with it.

P.P.S. This is my favourite translated tweet I've seen so far:

Happy forest village chief and made toys is escape from cheated on avatar apply accounting morass punch thanks to the mood Nintendo Nintendo overwhelming gratitude bite after-good luck rice production

I've been playing this game for 40 hours already and I really enjoy it. It's so relaxing and calming and lets your creative juices to flow. I like the fact the game gives you almost no limits in designing, just giving you a general idea of what the villager want. And I don't understand why do people want the villagers to tell something negative about the house you've designed, like I would be really upset if I put my heart into designing the house for the villager I love and after an hour I've spent to make a really nice house for him, he tells me he doesn't like it.

I've seen someone play the game for a new playthrough and it seems interesting "so far." I like the little things that were changed in the game.Like the fact that you can close window curtains now and you can scooch in between furniture like a little table in front of a sofa.
