What does your family think of the game?
Have they asked about it? Have you had to explain why you're glued to your Switch all day?
I'd love to hear what kind of discussions you've had with them about New Horizons!
My parents actually gave me a pre-order of the game for Christmas, so I've been mentioning it to them from time to time to show my gratitude... But I can't say with certainty that they understand what I'm talking about, haha. However, after seeing all the Animal Crossing content on TikTok, my sister now wants her own Switch! So, overall, I think they're supportive.
They don't care and are annoyed when I bring it up. I've always been on a console for pretty much all my life, so it's not really new behaviour. Wild World was the game that got me into the DS and I adored New Leaf, but they still wouldn't recognize Animal Crossing though.
My parents lowkey think playing games like Animal Crossing is childish while also thinking that me playing Grand Theft Auto is highly inappropiate for me. But at the end of the day they really don't care about video games, they're just judgmental.
My family doesn't think anything of it but my employer is pleased that I'm playing it because it means that I'm not breaking quarantine for anything other than going into work (Im a nurse)
I live with my dad and brother and they both play and it's cutting into my playtime since currently we all have just one switch lol but to be fair, I was the one who asked my dad to play! I thought he'd enjoy it just because, well, he's been gaming longer than I've been alive and we've played many Zelda and Pokemon games together. He was kinda confused about what the appeal of AC was when I first told him about it but now he's having a lot of fun with NH and likes giving me advice on how to decorate our shared island. My brother has liked Animal Crossing about as long as I have so he's also enjoying NH!
My mom and dad know I am a die hard animal crossing fan because I have been playing since gamecube. I used to force my mom to make a character!
When this came out, they knew id be getting the special switch and the game. And I don’t live with them, but everytime we cal one another they ask how the new animal crossing is lol.
my sister, 2 years older then me, is also a fan and got a switch lite and the game as well.
So, my sister just bought the game today after years of telling her how great Animals Crossing games are. She said she is really enjoying it.
We are both excited to be able to visit each other in-game as we haven’t seen each other in real life for over a month due to lockdown. Just gotta wait until tomorrow when she unlocks the ability to travel to other islands.
my sister plays and also uses the forums but the rest of my family dont pay attention to it at all - they like games where everyone can join in (like wii sports) and animal crossing is kinda like that but theyve never showed interest in any of the ac games ive played.
My brother and some of his friends are thinking of buying it now thanks to me. I keep shoving my screen in my moms face to show her how cute my villagers look and she agrees but that is about it.
I should try showing my dad next, see what he thinks. I might invite a bird villager first since he loves birds.
My dad claims it's not a proper game. But he has a motive. He keeps telling me to turn it off so I can run dailies in Final Fantasy XIV Online with him instead.
my siblings all want to play it! but considering how much i play on it, they usually don't get a chance. my parents are always commenting how much i'm attached to it now, and everytime i tell them that i'm busy, they say "busy with animal crossing?" lol
My brother and sister will get it when they get a switch. My brother doesn’t ask to play it on my switch, and my sister lives in a different country so she can’t play it on my switch.
My mom hears the animals talking when I play and the footsteps my character makes, and she says it reminds her of animal crossing. She didn’t know that that’s what I was playing. I had city folk and population growing (and nl but never heard me play it since I had while in school.) Of course I told her it was animal crossing. She doesn’t seem to have much opinions about it, but laughs at their little footsteps.
I am the only one in my family that plays nintendo, so my parents don't pay much attention but... on saint patrick's day, my dad gave me a 50$ card and a 20$ card for New Horizons. Dad is the reason i didn't get this game a year late.
