What don't you miss from the previous entries

I don’t miss villagers moving out without your permission. New Horizons took away the stress factor. It’s so nice not having to worry about your favorite villagers moving away.

villagers moving out of course, i always get anxious whenever i dont play for a bit because i dont want villagers to have moved without me being able to do anything about it, but i noticed its more common when i play more frequently for me.

lack of pattern slots/transparent paint, i kinda hate that in the older games you can only use the regular square shape and with little to no slots, so usually you just default to some versatile bricks/standard path for your town.

all villagers sharing a house, why did wild world do that i have no idea.

not being able to move certain buildings in NL, especially the campsite, i get anxious placing it early game because i dont want the spot to later interfere with my designing if i change my mind about what i originally wanted.

some (minimal) features being locked behind online play, i am specifically mentioning the train station in NL, i love the redesigns but why is it such a pain to unlock them in the first place, especially when its hard to find someone willing to do it unless you have a 2nd copy+3ds.

not being able to tell if a painting was fake or real.

and finally, kinda a controversial one, but i do not miss resettis old behavior. yes, i was/am still sensitive, playing wild world as a child and having my ds die on me and then being yelled at by a mole was so stressful. i get that some people dont mind it and see it as a "reasonable" punishment for resetting, but sometimes it wasnt even an intentional reset, and there was no way of being able to tell that. so i would be forced to type out the phrase "i am an idiot" or something because i was 5 seconds too late to plug in my charger. i do like that NL made it optional with the reset center though.

I have something to add to that point. Resetti was arguably at his worst in WW, because instead of cautioning you to not "reset" your system in your first interaction with him, as in the original and CF, he makes a few jabs at you, so he's already hostile from the start, rather than his temperament building up gradually.

I also don't really care about the long-winded rants Resetti would drone on about being gone. It was funny at first, but by the third game, I think the writers themselves were tired of this joke of an angry mole screaming in your face for nearly five minutes for "resetting". And the whole "resetting" bit honestly could've been the game freezing, or maybe the console couldn't read the game. I find being yelled at for something that was out of your control to be irritating, rather than humorous.

Regardless of what anyone says about how NL handled characterization, it did this particular aspect in the best possible way. Sure, I think he should've been more angry and insulting if you chose the first option, but I'm glad it's an option, and that Nintendo finally realized what "reset" actually means.

WW, having the smallest map, and not having much terrain, four player characters having their own house, just wasn't feasible. Besides, up until NL, it was the one game where you could have a huge mansion; other players could contribute to paying off those pesky Nook loans — it's ultimately a great pay-off in the end, I believe.

Villagers plonking their homes wherever they fancied. Villagers leaving the next day if you missed their message. The grass erosion.
Well that was easy...everything I was going to mention is all right here.

I started playing wild world again recently and having to water your wilted flowers everyday makes me not want to play. It makes the game feel like a chore. I’m glad that isn’t an issue in acnh. I like being able to take breaks without dreading coming back.

I'm with basically everyone else with villagers planting their house wherever/villagers moving away unexpectedly (still heartbroken when Bella left me in NL). And also if I remember right, campsite villagers could only move in if you had an empty spot, and otherwise it's just a big tease that someone you want is camping and there was zero way to invite them?

Also happy to not have to constantly water daily/come back to zero flowers after taking a break. Though the older games did have their perks since NH flower weeding is a process. Pros and cons to this one.

In GCN, my villagers were always angry/depressed because they got into fights with each other CONSTANTLY. I think a lot of people complain that the newer games are a little too nice, but it beats having my villagers permanently refusing to talk to me when I haven't instigated anything (and now if they do get angry/sad it's much easier to cheer them up).

I don't miss PWPs and not being able to place furniture outside! Same with the grass wear, though I do wish we had more in-game default paths to choose from, such as a worn grass pathway.

I don't miss not being able to terraform and destroy the boulders.

I don't miss the jellyfish that would sting you when idling while diving!

Definitely villagers moving away without warning and plopping new plots down wherever they wanted. The very few design slots and awful pathing feature with custom codes also was annoying. The lack of control over the town's layout across all previous titles frustrated me a lot.

I fully agree with Resetti. I found it funny as a kid and was taken aback at a video game character being so mad at me but it's just kinda old news now. I wouldn't want it as a feature anymore.

Grass wearing of course (I don't really remember about it but reading comments makes me feel yes I should), Dr. Shrunk. Like I hated him. He has an amazing specie however, but he made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't find him funny at all. Villagers who could move out without permission was also a problem. I don't miss character creation as well. Answer to get a certain appareance was annoying because I like to be honest but if I didn't want to be ugly it was impossible.

Dr Shunk in NL made me wish there were rotten vegetables specifically programmed to throw at him and his lame jokes

Here's my list:
  • Villagers moving away without your consent. They now never leave unless you say they can. There's a reason why Patty has been on my island for 3 1/2 years now.
  • Grass wearing out. There's certain areas where I wouldn't mind the grass actually wearing out (mainly around spruce trees), but for the most part, it's a detail I won't really miss.
  • Flowers withering. At times, it gets out of control after it rains, but if you ignore that, I don't have to constantly water or replace flowers anymore.
  • Pockets not being upgradable. Now, I can't imagine having less than 40 spots in my pockets. Were we spoiled? Maybe...
  • Public works projects for placing non-structural things outside. Now I don't have to fund 40,000 bells for a sign!
  • Being able to only place furniture in a 1x1 grid. In this game, you can go halfway between a square spot for most items.
  • Balloon furniture in balloons. They are actually useful in this game sometimes, which is great, and no balloon furniture to be seen!
  • Having to save manually all the time. Autosave is a lifesaver if your Switch dies randomly, and Resetti no longer gives you angry lectures as he's in a different role now. I kind of miss his hilarious rants though

Here’s mine:
  • Animals repainting your roof without permission.
  • Animals forcing nicknames on you and spreading it without your permission.
  • Animals being free to move wherever they want, including your house.
  • Katrina’s luck system in ACNL and how it punishes the player for not wearing what it wants it to wear.
  • La-di Day and Yay Day. Especially Yay Day, which is a dumb excuse for a holiday, like gender-reveal parties.
  • Club Tortimer, or any online zones where other players act like spoiled brats, demanding you for your hard-worked items. This would have to be the worst thing to come out of an Animal Crossing game, like the Jan 6 Insurrection was to any US president.
  • Peppy villagers forcing you to give up one of your items.

-Tanning
-Grass erosion
-Having to go through unnecessary amounts of trouble to make sure villagers don't leave without asking. I was the kind of person that eventually looked up how it actually works and ended up having to talk to my villagers a LOT in New Leaf just to make sure it was okay to take another break. This also made me sick of New Leaf's dialogue.
-Villagers being able to put their houses wherever they want
-Resetti getting mad because my game crashed or something. He can be funny to me sometimes, but this can be caused by things that aren't even my fault??

I don't miss trying to figure out everyone's gifts on Toy Day.
This is actually one of the things I miss most. The NH Toy Day is so bland and over so quick. I liked listening to villagers drop hints throughout December in NL.

A few things from NL that I disliked:

1 Grass wear. I despised this!
2. The villagers putting their houses wherever they wanted to
3. The lack of outside customisation. This was fixed in NH but NL was bad with the projects and their placements.
