The first Amiibo I've tried is asking for medium cardboard boxes. I have several regular. Apparently, I need a DIY recipe (from a balloon, a message in the bottle, or a lazy villager?) to make the regular ones into medium size. I haven't had any luck with the first two, and do not have any lazy villagers. What happens if I cannot complete the request, soon? This if the first time I was looking for something that didn't eventually appear at some point while playing.

You can always trade for the DIY or the item itself.
If you don't have the DIY for what they want, they give it to you.
You only need the materials.
If you don't complete it they just leave by the morning, and you can amiibo them in again, and perhaps get a new request.

I wish it would give me the DIY, but it hasn't. I have no clue why! I have all the materials ready to go and no DIY. I keep going back to talk to it, but nope.
I keep looking and I don't see it anywhere. I'm going to try getting on with one of my son's characters and see if it will give it to him. This is so weird.

I did say yes to the request. I went on with my son's character and it told him someone is making cardboard boxes. So it's still waiting on me. I'm going to go tell it no and see if it will then let him, but I doubt it.

If your son has the DIY, then make it on his toon thdn just bury it buy your hoise, hop back on your own character, dig it up and give it to the amiibo camper.
did you check your diys by sorting with the category "recently obtained"?
or with a-z works if you've already had that diy

Okay, don't laugh at me... I have the DIY recipe. I cannot believe it! I kept thinking about how you said it had to have given it to me. I looked when you said that (twice) and several times before. I will admit I'm very tired. I guess I just kept overlooking it, because it's in there. Thank you sooooo much. I was about to go to bed, I'm so tired, and figured it was a lost cause for today.

Glad you got it sorted! I think we have all had sleepy moments like that! My husband was once extremely tired after working a double shift and called me to ask if I had seen his phone anywhere. LOL! I was like, did you check right next to your ear?
That is soooo funny!! He really was tired!
I had to ask my husband to look with me, that's how tired I am. It's been a long day!

Today, the same camper is asking me for something else made of cardboard boxes. I only have one. Is there anyway to easily get more before the day is over? If I order from the Nook Stop, they won't arrive until tomorrow when the camper will be gone. There was only one in the recycle bin. I am so over these cardboard boxes! Are there other ways to get them on my island that I am not thinking of?

That's how I got the one that I have. My recycling bin really doesn't ever have much in it, unfortunately.
