What is the difference between TBT bells and bells in ACNL?

I really dont know the difference. I saw TBT bells used in Auctioning Villagers, i'm confused -__-

TBT is basically just an alternate currency. It can be traded for ingame bells, as well as features on The Bell Tree and trinkets on the Bell Tree.

Anyway, TBT bells are forum currency and do not affect the game. You can use them to buy things from other users, for the game.
