What is your dream job?

Does being a landlord count as a "dream job"? I hope in a few years I can get into property and have income that just creates itself. This is more a dream lifestyle than a dream job admittedly but that way I'd be able to have all the time in the world to do what I want while simulatniously having a steady flow of income to allow me to do the thing I love most: travelling.

Semi-Authoritarian Dictator of the United States where I overturn the current constitution and establish a mixed regime.

I would also enjoy being a clown.

Probably something archive/library stuff that doesn't require 10 years of studies lol.

hhhhh it's hard for me to answer this question and not think of money💲__💲

i am applying for my ~Dream Job~ ™ in public accounting which i have a very good chance of being rejected for but if by some miracle i do get it i will probs mean i will be working 50+ hours a week LOL and i might have to move from my hometown, but who knows.

i guess if i'm dreaming (and ignoring my lack of skills in this subj.) ac dev lead designer just so i can implement all the quality of life changes and bring back all the missing npcs :?

this isn't really as aspirational as some of the other replies here but I genuinely believe my dream would be to own a cat cafe lol, I absolutely love cats and spending 8-10 hours playing/petting them and sharing them with other cat people just sounds like paradise

anything creative! animator, writer, dancer, music producer, game design, manga illustrator, etc.
but im currently going down the path of studying bio/chem/math because i much enjoy studying them over english/art

For a couple years now, I have been thinking really hard about being an author.

Specifically, I think being an author for non-fiction, informative, and self-help books. I want to write books about topics that pertain to me, that I am passionate about, and just topics/things I feel like I can help people with. Some of these include (but not limited to):

* Self-shipping / Attraction To Fictional Characters
* Autism Spectrum Disorder (I know there are already a lot of books on this, but it will be from my point of view, and will talk about stuff that is still severely overlooked)
* Mental Health
* Understanding Your Child(ren)
* The Flaws of the School System
* Anti-Bullying and World Peace
* Why Gender Roles & Beauty Standards are Toxic (gender roles and beauty standards can go hand-in-hand, in my opinion)
* Life Tips

I have one other idea at the top of my head, but I rather not share it for now, as it is a bit sensitive/controversial. ^^

Work with animals. IDC if it's at a regular vet or at the zoo. I do well with them and the "boring" parts are often done solo anyway like filling out a forum, shoveling poo or weighing food. I like watching animals interact with each other and I like learning about them. Unfortunately every attempt to get a foot in the door didn't work..

The other I have is making video games, which is one I'm working towards very slowly. I'm at a huge disadvantage with this one, but I'm enjoying the journey since I am where I am and things are what they are..

A dream job for me would be to work in a cute lil cafe~ But I’d probably forget everyone’s orders.

i'd love to be a children's/middle grade book writer!! i mean i've always kinda wanted to be a writer but for some reason, i suddenly think that writing literature for younger people would be much cooler, and much more me.

i used to be really into writing before, but i feel like my writing skills have dwindled significantly since i don't have time for anything anymore. typing this out made me think about finding some time to pick it up again.

Growing up, my dream job was to be an author writing novels for kids aged ~10-13. I do still think that would be pretty cool although these days I have no time to write. However, I'm very happy with the job I ended up in! I work in an arts non-profit and it's very rewarding.

I think my main dream job would to be able to publish my stories into books, tv shows or/and films.
But honestly, anything creative I can get my hands on, I'll be so investied, because I just love being creative, and seeing others get their goals is what I want too.
Being a photographer would also be a grand job but the travelling all the time...

My dream job would to be an author! I've been enjoying writing stories since 2009 and have been going strong ever since! It just sucks that it's not an easy career path.

My dream job is to be a sleeping car attendant on one of Amtrak's (the main passenger rail service in the US) Western long distance routes. I know it doesn't look like the most glamorous job (in the most basic form it's basically a housekeeper on rails with extremely long hours, but there is a lot more to it!), but it is something I am very passionate about. On most of my overnight rides on Amtrak the sleeper car attendant was one of the main reasons the trips were so enjoyable, and I'd love to be able to help other passengers enjoy their trips as much as I have. Plus, instead of paying to ride the rails, I'd be getting paid to do so instead! I still haven't had any luck with any of my applications yet, but I'm not ready to give up yet.

My dream job is to be a human. As a snake, I have to crawl on the ground and hunt for my own food. All humans have to do is go inside a building and come out with more food I could ever eat! What a dream! I'm sure humans have no worries, like fighting for survival. Must be great being a human! 🐍

I wanted to be a psychologist at one point and had begun looking into places where I wanted to go, and even had talks with a psychologist in the field.

During that time, I was taking a short course at a community college. Carpentry. I struggled so much with it and humbled me, really. I was barely able to complete such a small thing. There's no possible way that I can complete about a decade of psychology.

I did end up working in media, which was another goal of mine. I'm currently in radio and I'm often on air, that's good as well.

Earlier in my life, I wanted to work in video games. I always wanted to make an RPG even though the indie RPG market is full of them. Mine would be focused more on fun and game play, not boring tropes and long stories/dialogue. Or gimmicky mechanics that just create more steps and confusion.

I would say nail tech/manicurist. I would like to design nice, simple nail art, apply gel or acrylic nails, or easy color change.

my absolute dream job right now would be to play piano for a symphony orchestra. I love practicing piano pieces and playing and performing for people, and I've always thought that the idea of playing with an ensemble sounded really awesome. there are a few symphonies in my area, maybe somehow I can make ties with them.

besides that, I would really love to be either a librarian or a music/piano/history teacher. I work at a library right now as a shelver and though I don't work many hours it is a really nice job, especially for someone like me with ASD. and as for the teacher thing, I'm a piano performance major and history minor so that's where my passions are. specifically, regarding history, I'm interested in modern US history so that's probably what I would teach.
coming back to this since I made this post almost four years ago. I mentioned something about being a librarian, and I can now confidently say that my dream job is to work in the field of library science! I worked at the college library for four years and I've been working in a public library for over a year now, and I couldn't imagine doing any other kind of work. I love my job. I'm considering getting my MLIS in the future, and I'm not sure what different jobs are available in library sciences but I know that I would love to work with kids. 💜

as for the piano thing, well, I'm unfortunately not nearly dedicated enough to play piano for a living. plus, unless you're some kinda crazy famous musician, it often ends up being freelance work if you're a performer, and I don't like the idea of not having a steady income. the people who play for a living are absolutely amazing performers, and while I do think I am a pretty good pianist, they are leagues ahead of me and it would take an ungodly amount of work to get to their level. I do still love playing piano, and I've considered doing other things with my music skill like composition, transcribing, and maybe some performance. it's just not my "dream" job anymore.

I love this thread! Its so nice to see what everyone aspires to do! I have to make a decision soon since I will finish secondary school in the next few years. I have been planning for a while and here are some jobs that did not make the cut and the ones I have decided to focus on!

Baker / Chef
For so many years until I was around 12 years old I wanted to do something in the culinary field! I always loved baking and cooking.... It's still one of my favorite hobbies but I don't think I'll make a career out of it! It seems pretty stressful but maybe one day when I am elderly I'll open Yum Yum's Happy Green Cafe!

Teacher
I absolutely LOVED my Teaching course and adore children. Honestly, my true dream job is still to be a high-school algebra teacher. Sadly, they don't make hardly any money, many students today are ungrateful, and my intelligence would be better used in another field! I still have so much respect for all the teachers in my life that have inspired me, maybe in another universe....

Singer
THIS WAS SUCH A FUN THING TO DREAM ABOUT but would NEVER happen. I am not a great singer and really just dreamed about going on a show like the old X-Factor and performing, I used to wanna be in a band like One Direction or Fifth Harmony but that won't happen lol. I love those two groups so much but I am not talented enough to be a performer. I am much better off in a more intellectual field haha <3

Pediatrician OR Orthodontist
This is where I am stuck now! I really want to do something in the medical field because I always wanted a job that helped people and made a difference. I just never thought of the medical field since I was scared of blood but I think I can handle it! I made it through biology, have all a's, am a VERY driven person and think this could help alot of people! I could monitor children's health and growth or help people with their teeth! I am very excited and think I can achieve this, I'll check back in fifteen years 🤩
