what is your favorite type of bug?

I'm not a huge fan of bugs.. I can probably list more disliked insects compared to ones I like...

I love the honeybee, but ONLY the honeybee when it comes to the bee/wasp family. I am very very extremely afraid of wasps. T^T

I also like butterflies, however; moths scare me.. ><

I like ladybugs, but I don't like stinkbugs. They're ugly. They stink. They buzz and fly around me and it triggers my flight or fight response.

I kind of like worms ? Pill bugs/rolliepollies too! I used to play with them a lot with my older brother when we were much younger. We'd go outside and lift rocks and planks of wood to find bugs xD

Bumble bees! 🐝 They’re pretty cute, and they’re very smart! Although their brain is the size of a grass seed, they are able to recognize human faces, build upon things they have already learned, and they have unprecedented cognitive flexibility! It’s not all about the size but how the neurons are wired. ;3 Also, their little waggle dance is so neat! But mostly, I love seeing them bumble around in the flowers for nectar. 🖤

Cicadas are fun to go seeking for, so that could be a favorite too, perhaps. And black ants are kind of cute.

I really want to write a book that talks about bugs, although ironically less about the cute ones like bees and more about the gross ones everyone hates— including me. =p

i like a lot of bugs but it's always gotta be the humble bumble bee for me !

shout out to ants though

Damselfly!

All my life I thought they were another type of dragonfly but apparently not! We had these up at the cottage all the time and they were so cute and colourful! They'd always use us as life rafts when we were out swimming. We'd save any drowning ones and loved when they'd be on our heads or arms to rest. So cute! An dthey didn't bite so that was also a bonus lol

I love Praying Mantis.

These things won't back down from anything and will even challenge a cat with arms up in the air.

I love bugs! It's really hard to pick a favorite, but I think I'll go with caterpillars. When I was really young, I found one on the school playground. I decided it was my pet, so I named it and everything. Then I was devastated when they wouldn't let me bring it home on the bus. 🐛🥺

Lately, I've been really fascinated by the spotted lanternfly nymphs. I know they're considered invasive in the US, but I think they're cool and a lot of fun to watch. The way they crabwalk around is adorable.

I would also rank fireflies, crickets, cicadas, june bugs, and praying mantis high on my list.

I miss seeing all the fireflies out on summer nights. They were everywhere, filling the night with their twinkling lights. Now I feel lucky to see a few around the yard on any given night.

I find the sound of crickets and cicadas very soothing. My brother kept a cricket as a pet when we were young, so I grew quite comfortable falling asleep while listening to it chirp.

Praying mantis look cool, act cool, and come in so many shapes and colors. I love seeing them.

June bugs bring fond memories of childhood. We would catch them and play with them as kids. I feel really bad about it now, because I'm sure the bugs didn't enjoy it like we did. But they were naturally clingy, so it seemed to us like they wanted to hang out.

All the insects that eat mosquitoes, like dragonflies. Apparently they can eat up to 100 mosquitoes per day. Dragonflies and damselflies are awesome!

Praying Mantis'. I love them.

But Earwigs are second. They fascinate me. They have pinchers on their rear ends instead of up front like most insects. I am not sure why their pinchers are on their backsides, but I can relate... I imagine it's about defense as you run from the bigger assailants.

Marvel needs an Earwig-Man. He may be ugly, but he can clip villains as he runs away.

There are a lot of great ones out there, so it’s hard to pick a single favorite but I think I would say damselflies. Their faces are so cute and silly and they come in such pretty colors!

I also really love green lacewings. They kinda look like me little wire and mesh decorations to me (I have a little wire and mesh butterfly my middle school social worker gave to me ^^) and they’re such a happy shade of green. I’ve heard also great natural pest control. Plus, they lay eggs on little stalks and they kinda look like little fairy versions of cattails ^^

I also really love praying mantises, moths, butterflies, skippers, caterpillars (except for those horrible monkey slug ones or whatever they’re called, I hope I never see one irl @n@), leafhoppers, stickbugs, ladybugs, fireflies, katydids, and even weevils a lot ^^

If I had to pick just one then I'd probably say butterflies, although I can't really pick just one kind of butterfly. Maybe monarchs, since I've always liked those. I also like moths, spiders, bumblebees, ladybugs, weevils, praying mantises, stick bugs, and so on.

I'm not a huge fan of bugs. Most bugs give me the creepy crawly heebie jeebies.

But i do like spiders! We have an insane amount of spiders here. Tons of different kinds. In late September/ October you can finally see their webs, especially during early foggy mornings!

My favorite web pic. We have a "natural" area we just leave alone, and it is just covered in spiderwebs. Even the leaves are draped. I had to resize the image, but you can still see the webbing.

If I had to pick any insect, I would probably have to go with none😩
they all kinda gross me out lol

Maybe a type of beetle. I like most of them. Even named my animal crossing town after one.

Animal Crossing gave me a huge newfound appreciation for beetles.. sometimes I find a dying Horned Atlas in the grocery store parking lot and I am always amazed that they're real

I love bumblebees, honey bees, dragonflies, leafhoppers, grasshoppers, crickets, cicadas, jewel beetles, and roly polies! My absolute favorites are probably fireflies. I wish I still saw them around more often.
