I was searching for a thread on this but couldn't find it, so here it is! (I hope I haven't missed an option)

I personally really enjoy progressing through the game but probably because I tend to be quite goal-oriented. It feels really satisfying when I get enough money to unlock a bigger house. I also quite enjoy decorating it and creating rooms with different purposes, especially a cafe-style room for coffee! ☕

For me it's the villagers. I've played many different life sim games but I always come back to Animal Crossing just to check in on these little weirdos. They have a certain charm that other games can't match. It's the same way I feel about Pokémon, there's lots of other monster collecting games out there but do they have Pikachu? Snorlax? Lechonk?? I don't think so.

Yeah exactly! Someone on Reddit described this really really well:
The villagers, your friends remember. They throw you a party and give you gifts. Time continues to pass, you look forward to the annual festivals. You have a best friend now. That one villager that you see and talk to everyday who never fails to make you smile. You renovate your house. You can't wait to show them the next time your friend comes over. They give you a picture of themselves which you place on your fireplace mantle. You are truly happy.

There are many things I love about the game but my favorite are the villagers. Interacting with them , getting to know them. Decorating their yards. I also really like getting the Nook mile achievements. I like having something to work towards.

For me it's the collecting & completionist aspect of the game & trying to use most of it inn my island design. There's so much to do and collect... Critters, Nook Miles achievement, Furniture etc.

Usually, it's the villagers for me, but since the dialogue can be a lot to be desired in ACNH, I'd have to go with decorating my island. I do love my villagers though.

My top would be decorating the island. I have so much fun tinkering around, seeing what works and what doesn't. I'm really happy with the overall look so far.

If I could pick a #2 and #3, it'd be decorating my house and playing with others.

My top priority in every animal crossing game is designing my house until I absolutely love it. I am especially proud of my ACNH house as I feel like with the new furniture, new customisation options and simple things like rugs, ability to center items, big paintings and the ability to hang things on the wall anywhere have absolutely elevated my design to the next level. I’d say second is completing the museum, I never used to do that but since New Leaf I’ve made it a new tradition, after I have the perfect house I must complete the museum. I’d say finally and as third priority I’ve started to love designing my island, but that took a long time to start to enjoy xD

Fishing was always a favourite thing of mine to do in previous games, and it was as well in the beginning of New Horizons. However I got soooo caught up in designing I forget to fish… I should get back to it once my island overhaul is done :D

100% the Villagers

My biggest hope for any future version of the game is more interactions and activities with them. I’d love to see them do things, play games together, have them be even further developed as individuals.

Just like crafting seemed like a big focus of New Horizons, I’d want the Villagers to be the focused on for the next game in the series!

My favorite thing about New Horizons is so much customization! I can make my own little paradise and control almost anything and everything in this game
I love the graphics they make everything look so adorable!
I love how everything is so relaxing and you can play at your own pace.
I think those are those most important key points of the game for me.

My favorite part of Animal Crossing is talking to my villagers and decorating my island. I think I just prefer talking to my villagers a bit more. I miss the community aspect of a game where design was in the backseat. Now, it seems like that’s all there is to do.

Mine is definitely the villagers. 😊💖

I really love seeing what they have to say, and how they interact with you. I like choosing gifts for them and seeing what they say in response, but also seeing them interact with each other. I love when two of them are talking, trying to choose a gift for another villager!

All of my villagers have their own front yard, and I really like trying to customise their yard to suit what I think they'd like. I like gifting them clothes to see what they choose to wear. I really love that renovating their homes has been implemented! Now I can really customise it to something (in my mind) that I think they'd love. 😊

But also, before house renovations, it was interesting to see what they'd do with the furniture gifts I gave them! Agnes was my starter, so she had a basic house. I gifted her the same bed she has in her standard house and she never even put it out! Then, when I was still paying off my loans and had no money, I splurged and bought her the System Kitchen for 130,000 bells (because she deserves the best 💕), and she put it out for one day and then never used it again. 😅

Agree. You have a life simulator (simplified) along with the farming, designing, crafting, kind of online rpg also and the open world 🗺. And of course everything is just super cute!

I voted for villagers but that doesn't really cover it.

My favourite thing isn't just one thing.
What I love doing is aimlessly wondering around my island.

Talking to villagers I come across.
Catching that big fish or rare bug I come across.
Going diving because I randomly feel like it at that time.
Popping balloons that float by and seeing what item I got.

Just being relaxed and immersed in the game.

The only thing on your list I care little for is playing with other people.
Trading? Sure. Playing. Not really.

The opening of the game, before the townhall is built is really fun. The Resident Services is a tent, and music is very peaceful. . You just work on pulling weeds and begin earing bells for your mortgage as well as start crafting to build the 3 other houses.

Other than that, completing the museum (minus art) is always fun. Hunting bugs especially.

definitely decorating my island. i plan to demolish my entire island and start over, im a bit bored of the game and want to have a clean start so i can really enjoy it again. very excited for planning.

My favorite thing is completing nook mile goals. On my second island I'm playing based on the nook mile plus goals. I made a rule for myself that I can only do something of its a nook mile plus goal and I have to progress through the game that way. It makes progress really slow, but I love the beginning part of the game so I don't mind. I started back in April and still haven't reached 3 stars to have KK visit.

It's the same thing that has been my favourite part throughout the entire AC series - the villagers.

Building up a friendship with these villagers is what makes the AC games for me. If they introduced a new game where you live on the island/forest alone and villagers just pass by, I wouldn't bother buying it, even if it included more customization than this one.

There’s been a lot of things with New Horizons that have really impressed me. I just love all the small details this game adds from the animations to the sounds. They really did their thing to perfect that. I also just love the freedom of decorating in NH. I will say I wish we had a bit more furniture - yes i know we got a lot with the update, but i still want more.

I freaking LOVE Happy Home Paradise that DLC is such a winner for me. I have more fun just decorating their vacation homes.

I think for me it has to be decorating, it scratches such a deep creative itch sometimes. There are some islands that are serious works of art.
