What is your proudest possession ?

My B.C Rich Eagle Deluxe guitar.

I don't play it anymore as I've moved on to 7 string guitars, but it was my first decent guitar that wasn't a piece of crap from a pawn shop. My grandad bought it me when I got accepted into collage for music.

I'll never part with it because it's my first decent guitar, it marks a special occasion and he was the only person that really ever encouraged and didn't try to put me off pursuing music, even though I know it wasn't really what he thought I should do.

I have a lot of prized possessions, mostly because I'm very sentimental which can make random objects have a lot of meaning to me. One of mine is a handwritten letter my grandmother wrote to her parents in 1948; the letter itself isn't necessarily interesting, but she was writing to her parents about the first house her and her husband purchased, and my dad gave it to me when my husband and I bought our first home. My grandma passed away quite a few years ago so it's pretty special to me.

My dad died when I was 21. He loved his digital watch. Isn’t worth anything but he loved it so I have it as my only solid real life memory of him.

Ah, I'm so sorry about your loss. 😔
I love that you keep his beloved digital watch. Things like those are priceless. 💜

it's hard to name only one in the midst of all of them. maybe my old sketchbooks, but then again there's a lot of them. i dunno if it counts lol
even if very bad in comparison to my recent works, those drawings are very special to me because drawing's how i illustrate my fantasies, stories, wishes and generally my mental state. being able to remember not only the things i did, but also the things i felt and thought, is very important to me. and also because i drew some of them with old friends i haven't seen in forever and probably never will again.

I'm going to have to say my new MacBook Pro 2020, not because it's expensive and a fantastic laptop overall but because I bought it myself without having to break down paying for it in monthly instalments or dig into my savings. Also I know I'm getting the most out of it from what I want in a laptop as oppose to buying into it for the namesake etc.

Self-pride isn't a feeling that I commonly feel (hooray for having perfectionistic and anxious tendencies!). After some contemplation, I'd say, in this order:

1. My university degree. I paid off all my student loans last year, and thanks to having two years of internship experience, which was mandatory as part of the program, I managed to find a job outside of my field of study.

2. My Dell XPS laptop. It's been with me since 2017 and has served me well through my university coursework.

3. My Bose QuietComfort 35 noise-cancelling headphones. They were the first major purchase that I made from money I made from my very first internship in 2016. They still work great. I absolutely love how amazing music sounds and how I can block out distractions from the external world whenever I need to focus.

I've been debating posting on this for a while, I'm also not of the self-pride mentality for the same reasons, @TheSillyPuppy! 😂

My most prized possessions are:
My engagement ring - this ring, is the exact ring that I would lay in bed at night as a teenager, dreaming about my future, and build on the website and think to myself, "*sigh*, no one is ever going to buy this ring for me." And many years later, my husband bought my dream ring, unbeknownst to him!

My stuffed animal from my childhood, Roger the Rabbit (you can tell when I grew up, haha). I still have him, through many moves in life!

Might add pics later.

My most prized possession is something that I made on photoshop elements and that I had signed by Steve Blum, my favorite voice actor and a picture that was taken with him ☺️. Unfortunately the person that worked there made the picture blurry when my friend had the camera settings right. Steve said he will let me have a new picture for free if i show them the tweet next time he’s at a convention here ☺️. I’d post my tweet but I don’t feel comfortable sharing it here right now.

When people talk about VA, I normally never know who they are, but Steve Blum is such a well known name that even I know them. He voiced Korra's most iconic villain and I love how he decided to make a bunch of jokes in Amon's voice. 'Amon's got to do what a Amon's got to do.'

You all have really amazing pieces that are dear to you in different ways. I honestly can't think of anything of mine that does that to me currently. Or rather it probably changes or I have a bunch of them that I can't really easily pick just one?

Like there's this blanket that I still have that someone stitched for me. It's thick and heavy enough that during the winters it's great at keeping me warm. And that they spent so much time making it for me and in such good quality means a lot to me. It's just a blanket, but I will keep it with me as long as I am alive.

I also have this antique treasure chest that I found (recently within the past years) that's dated somewhere between 1880-1890. It wasn't in good condition, but I've been slowly working on it as a side-project and just the age alone and how it looks is so cool. My involvement in restoring it to its former glory has only captured its level of beauty even more.

I also have a bunch of stories that I've wrote and art that I have done that I am proud of. Especially because some of the stories were a group project with me and my penpal that we created together (and still do when we have the time!) It's still ongoing and it's fun to just read a little bit of it and remember when that happened and the fun that it was.

My most prized possession is the first, and only, letter my (now) husband wrote me when I went away to college. We were young when we started dating and the first month of being away from him was super hard. I’m a big Aladdin fan and he drew the Genie for me on the front and it only got better when I started reading.

While it was full of typos, I could hear his voice perfectly while reading it. It reminded me that we were strong and how much he truly knew and cared for me. After that letter was delivered, I was convinced that we were going to get through 4 years of long-distance. Now we’re happily married with a fur baby! 💕

There are several things I'd consider my proudest possessions, but two I can think of off the top of my head would have to be my phone/device collection that I've been working to build for almost 3 years now and an anti-anxiety spell jar that someone very important to me made for me, it helps me remember that, contrary to what my brain wants to tell me, people do actually care about me and my wellbeing and that I deserve to be at peace. I plan to keep both of those things for as long as possible : )

WOAHH!! your phone/device collection is SWEET! I have a couple of my old phones, but not all of them and boy, I wish I did. Sooo cool.

Thank you!! I think the best part is that nearly all of the devices I have cost me nothing, the only money I've spent on my collection is buying a few phones and fixing up some of the better ones that needed it

Currently I'm thinking it's my Perfume of Wonderland set! As of now it's the rarest piece I own; it was a made to order exclusive for tea party attendees in 2014. It's always cool to think of the journey my clothes go through to get to me haha. Having something I never thought I'd own definitely gives me hope for finding more rare pieces on my wishlist.

my piano because i really wanted one and i bought it with my own money.

also my billie eilish merch collection, i have 3 posters, an airpod case, a blanket, a shirt, an (unofficial) magazine and soon, a cd of her new album which was painted by her (it’s still shipping tho and it’s kind of hard to explain when i said painted by her. it’s a splatter paint cd meaning that she put paint on it but she didn’t actually paint it like a picture)

My engagement and wedding rings. The first plushie my husband gave me when we started going out. A letter he gave me on the day he had to go back to Germany (we were long distance for the first 2 years of our relationship)

My SNSD album and photo card collection. I have basically everything they ever released as a group and the members solo albums, plus a lot of rare photocards.

I have a few things that im pretty attached to. I’d say my most beloved object would be my stuffed animal. It’s a koala bear that i’ve had since the day i was born. Another thing I have is an urn with my mother’s ashes. I also have some medals and awards that i’m proud of! For more materialistic things i would say my car which is the first car i bought myself, my laptop, and my phone.

Those are the things i would be throwing out the window to save if the house was on fire.

My autographed CD collection. I know hardly anyone cares about CDs these days, but maybe people will find the fact that they're autographed neat. This is from nearly 20 years of going to conventions, concerts, etc. Most of them are from Japanese people, though I've got a small number that aren't. I did live in Japan for a few years and got a few there too, but believe it or not, it's actually easier to get Japanese autographs in the US, if you are able to travel to anime cons, video game concerts, and the like.

My very favorites: BABYMETAL, Shoko Nakagawa (most known for Sorairo Days from Gurren Lagann, Ray of Light from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, and lots of Pokemon stuff), Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy composer), Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger and Xenogears composer), Koji Igarashi (Castlevania series producer), Michiru Yamane (Castlevania Symphony of the Night composer), Kanon Wakeshima (most known for Still Doll from Vampire Knight and all of her WIXOSS themes)

I have a lot more than that, those are just the ones I'm happy about having the most. I haven't been able to add to my collection since 2019, thanks to COVID. That's been annoying.
