What Motivates You to Play New Horizons After a Long Break?

On my old island, when I wasn't interested in playing daily, I'd still load it up sometimes and just wander my beach and dig clams to craft bait. I had a lot of fish bait stored because I was trying to get the 100 catches in a row achievement, not to mention winning the fishing tourney... It's a little harder now that I have all my stores and villagers on the beach.

The time when I was really burnt out of playing, I was browsing other people's island builds and pics, and I saw one that just.... hit me? It was a field of yellow and white cosmos, and I saved it to my phone to keep for inspiration. It's partially responsible for encouraging me to restart my island and begin playing in earnest again, because I wanted a space that reminded me of it.

Here's the original pic that inspired me! I'm just linking it because it's kind of big, hahah

I can see why this was inspiring! The whole vibe is just so cheery and has that late day summer sort of glow to it. And it's very natural looking, not crowded with a bunch of things, not overly terraformed or anything. Just simple and nice.

I cycle through most of my games (sims4, acnh, sdv, mtap, et cetera) so whenever the desire arises to play again I just go with it. Right now I’m back in it, and probably will be until the Stardew update comes out for switch. I like to alternate because it keeps it fresh, because if I play too much then I stop playing for a long time and when I do get back to it I often restart, but I’d love to finish an island lol

Well I don't know this would help because I am into decorating, and right now it's the only animal crossing game I can physically play. but usually in New horizons I've made places that are special to me. Places that I would like to visit and some of those places don't exist anymore - they cannot be visited in reality. So I usually go to animal crossing to enjoy going to those places. And to also make more places. Right now I'm working on making some focus stuff

A friend is getting into Animal Crossing so I thought that I would start playing it again. So I could help them out and finish getting the art.

I like to have a goal to work towards. So currently I'm working on collecting and crafting as many DIYs as possible, but I'm also working on diving. I'll also sometimes turn my focus to a certain part of my island that I'd like to revamp/add stuff to.

I usually just miss my villagers. But then I start weeding and looking at old decorated areas, and next thing I know I'm remodeling for the 5 billionth time.

Usually, it's just a desire to try to work on decorating my island some more. The motivation will usually only last for a few days every three months or so, but I make a bit of progress each time!

The only think that gets me back nowadays tends to be the holidays, starting with halloween through new years :)
I already finished my town and museum, but holidays give me a reason to redecorate! Also the game feels the coziest during the autumn change and the first snow falling, so Imo it's just the best time to play animal crossing regardless!

TBT is def the biggest reason for me to dust it off. Events tend to motivate me to start playing again, and i usually at least play more regularly for awhile after an event ends. Since I got my 2nd switch, I’ve been working on my Halloween themed 2nd island so I’ve currently been working on getting all the stuff at harv’s finished and working on HHP to unlock stuff.

Very much what DaCoSim said above about the events here. But I also really want to finish my island at some point and when I’m back to playing more often it’s with that goal in mind. Recently I also discovered that playing for 15–20 minutes in bed helps me fall asleep. Weird, but it works, so good for me.

I've been working on my museum, so I've been playing more often than usual. But I usually only visit them on their birthdays!

It's kinda cute in my opinion to just see them. Yeah they're usually sad, becaue ai do say hi to everyone. But I do love the game, and so popping in once in awhile is nice.

Usually when I get back into acnh it's because of TBT events but occasionally I'll get an idea or find some new inspiration online that makes me want to try it out and sometimes I just get a random urge to decorate for a holiday.

My ideas for my second island, my new island journal and also my tbt shop is what motivates me to play. 🙂 I’ve been having a lot of fun working on my island journal. I’m really excited about what I’m going to try doing with my island. Right now, I’m not rushing it and am just taking my time since I’m playing another game to help me with my ideas; I’m basing my second island on areas in the game so I need to keep progressing.
