80s songs that are particularly emotional, like a power ballad or something in adult contemporary, always give me a warm fuzzy feeling as if I had been temporarily transported back to the 1980s. now mind you, I wasn't born until '99 but some of those 80s songs just have such a powerful way of encapsulating the love and fear that was going on at the time.
one song that perfectly demonstrates the fear at the time are "Forever Young" by Alphaville, a song about the Cold War and what would happen if a nuclear war actually went down. now I wouldn't say this is positive nostalgia but it really gives me the feeling that I'm living in the US in 1985, in the heat and fear of the Cold War. the music itself really has that nostalgic quality to it too, it's a quintessential 80s power ballad with a hidden message.

and as for love songs that are really nostalgic, I would say songs like "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera, "Faithfully" by Journey, and "Right Here Waiting" by Richard Marx are the pinnacle of nostalgia for me. Even a song like "Father Figure" by George Michael, intimate and powerful, is really nostalgic. one last song that makes me feel a lot of nostalgia is "Toy Soldiers" by Martika, another really emotional song that has a great musical track. I love listening to 80s ballads as well as pop songs of the time, they make me feel like I myself had been living in the 80s and it's a really warm and fuzzy feeling for me since I absolutely love the 1980s.
it seems kinda strange that someone can have nostalgia for a decade that they didn't even live in
