My first exposure to Animal Crossing was Animal Crossing: Population: Growing! back on the GameCube. I visited a friend one day and they were playing it and I thought it was cool, so I got a copy myself so we could play together. I still have that town and have fond memories of spending time there as a child.
After that, I wasn't aware of Wild World until years later and still have never played it, nor do I really ever intend to in the future.
The next game I picked up was City Folk, but I couldn't enjoy it for a number of reasons and stopped playing it after a very short time. I didn't like using the Wiimote since I generally used the GameCube controller for everything I could on the Wii, I didn't like how the ground moved when you walked into a new acre, I found it to be more of a pain to earn bells to afford anything (like Gracie's furniture), and it seemed like the dialogue with your villagers was way more limited and uninteresting than it was in the GameCube game.
Despite being disappointed with City Folk, I gave New Leaf a chance and I'm glad I did. I have 4 towns, possibly going on 5 soon because there are some excess villagers who didn't fit into any of the towns I made due to themes I based the towns around, and who also won't be able to become residents in New Horizons since I already planned out who I intend to have in that game.
Haven't bothered with any of the other stuff. Happy Home Designer seems sort of neat but wasn't sufficiently interesting to me. Amiibo Festival piqued my interest until I found out you actually had to buy the individual $12 amiibo separately if you wanted to play and I never ended up buying it. I also don't have a device on which to play Pocket Camp, but even if I did, I'm not sure that I'd be too interested in it because of the pay aspect despite how neat some of the furniture and clothes look.
I first played Animal Crossing on the GCN, back in October of 2002. I was in eighth grade. It's hard to believe it's been just over 17 years now. I got so attached to the game back then, it was practically unhealthy. I also got my sister playing, and I remember how neat that was, but also that we ended up not liking sharing. Lol.
GameCube! My very first boyfriend was very in to Animal Crossing and I had no idea what it was!! I instantly fell in love with the game! It was so peaceful and relaxing to play!
Wild World for me. I remember watching my best friend play it on our way to a field trip and it looked really neat. So I had my mom pick it up and I fell in love right away. I may play it again just for nostalgia feeling here pretty soon.
My first ac game was new leaf! My brother's girlfriend lent me her copy for a bit and i fell in love with the game and after about a year or so i was lucky enough to find someone selling their 3ds within my budget and it came with a bonus acnl cartridge so now i have my own town!
Part of the reason i got into ac so late was because my parents never let us have gaming consoles when we were kids so we could focus on our studies but from what I've read i think i would have liked the eariler ac games as well ^^
Wild world, back in 2008. My little brother borrowed the game off a friend, but I played it more than he did. His friend let him keep it, but I actually kept it as I knew he would lose it, and I still have it 11 years on!
Wow, 11 years, time flies!
I played literally 2 min of Wild World, that's almost not even exaggerating. I played it for that long on my R4 when I was a kiddo, promptly got bored of it, deleted it, and then in 2015, I played New Leaf. So... Tbh the first experience doesn't count and only New Leaf does.
I started with the original. I remember my brother explaining this new open concept game that was in real time. What?! It blew my mind. I remember waking up early before school (as a junior in high school...) just to listen to the music. I was fascinated by the detail in dialogue and how each villager had their own developed personality. It will always be that nostalgia that keeps me coming back.
I played Wild World back in 2012! I first played Harvest Moon for DS, and I really didn't like it. Then, I saw the cartridge for WW, and I fell in love!
My first game was New Leaf. I didn't even know it existed before the trailer was shown to me in 2011 or 2012, and I was the only one out of my three siblings who didn't think it looked interesting at all. It was until February 14, 2014 when one of my sisters made me sit down and play the shared copy of NL and make a character. It was actually so much fun that with my birthday money later that year I bought my own copy.
back in 2014 i picked up my first ever AC game, new leaf!
after new leaf, i got hhd, then city folk, and lastly wild world.
i can't wait for my next ac game to be new horizons!
