What was your first game?
The OG GC version! And I've played every version since~ I remember seeing the game in the store and, for some reason, I thought you could play as a cat. I was SUPER bummed to find out I couldn't, but I still gave the game a shot, and ended up loving it! I restarted my town multiple times, but my main villager for a long time was dolly (I didn't cap her name... don't know why). dolly was a REBEL. I remember switching her into her skull t-shirt when Nook told her to put on her work uniform- 'CAUSE NO ONE TELLS DOLLY WHAT TO DO. She was a cool girl... but I think she mellowed with age. In fact, I often think about her as my current character's mom!
Also, my original town had a silly name I will share- when I first started up the game, my dad was sitting with me (he liked to see the kinds of games I played and we'd bond over it) and one of the first things I was asked, by Rover, was where I was going. It never occurred to me that I'd get to NAME the town... so I put in the name of a state I visited a lot on vacation (mostly to visit family, but we'd also go to museums and zoos and tourist attractions) but it was too long. So I shortened it. And Northdak it was. I also created Southdak (which ended up being my main town with dolly), Eastdak, and Westdak. But Northdak was my default name for quite a bit!
Who is your favorite villager?
Originally Maple- she was literally the first villager I EVER met. Nowadays, it's Ursala. I discovered her when I got her Amiibo card randomly, moved her in to New Leaf, and just fell in love. I also love Tangy and most cats, honestly (except Tabby and Moe- they have kind of scary faces, IMO
I also have very fond memories of Pierce! My BFF and I both played a ton back then and we each picked villager boyfriends. Back then, jock dialogue could sometimes be kinda flirty (in our love-obsessed preteen minds, at least) and so they were both jocks. Mine was Aziz (hasn't appeared in any games since, he was a lion) and hers was Pierce. Back then villagers moved whenever they darn well felt like it and you had NO say. Also, they tended to move to towns on memory cards you'd had in your console. So she was super bummed when Pierce moved... and then he appeared in my game. When she found out, she stared at me for a moment, and looked super annoyed and was like, "You stole my boyfriend!" and I just kind of stared at her blankly, because she seemed dead serious... but then it was like she realized how absurd she was being and we both burst out laughing! I moved him onto my island for a bit, just for the memories, lol.
What did you do most?
Oh, man... so much. Caught fish and bugs, dug up stuff, chatted with villagers. I had multiple memory cards so I would go from town to town a lot. I made most of my money from fruit by doing that, but I never had a ton of Bells, lol. I liked to chat to villagers, but since they moved so often and randomly, I tried not to get -too- attached.
I also TTed. A ton. Ever since I discovered how I thought it was so fun to TT and see different events at random times of the year! All my friends TTed, too. In fact, in CF, TTing to holidays was how I paid off my home loan- and had lots of fun doing it (though I never got to meet Phineas, RIP)! I didn't realize until way later that some people, not only don't TT, but actually JUDGE those who do. I still don't understand that at all- part of the fun of Animal Crossing is playing how you want!
Who is your favorite Special Character?
Originally, I think I liked Redd (he was so fun and shady) and Tortimer (whenever he showed up I knew something exciting was happening!) There weren't a -ton- of special characters that I remember from the original, lol. I know my least favorite, though- Resetti. I reset SO MUCH that he HATED me. I still remember the first time he told me he had erased my save data. I think my heart stopped. Then he was like "psych!" and I was SO annoyed, lol. At the same time, I kind of miss him in this game, because we had an odd relationship- I liked to hassle him at times, and I think he appreciated me giving him a job. It was a love/hate thing.
These days, I like Isabelle (I know a lot of players hate her, but I don't get why- she's cute and sweet!) and Celeste (her expression when she watches the stars is PRECIOUS)
EDIT: Oh, wait! I forgot holiday visitors. I also liked Franklin, and felt super bad for him (I always helped him and wanted to tell him I was a vegetarian, so I'd keep him safe!) but Jack was my favorite, because Halloween is my top favorite holiday and I love all things spooky. I still wonder what kind of animal he is... and yet I hope Nintendo never tells us 'cause I love the mystery.
What is your favorite/town fruit?
Apples- my favorite fruit IRL and in the games. I think they're delicious alone, delicious when baked in other foods, and oddly adorable looking... for a fruit. Peaches are my second favorite, and current town (well, island) fruit.
but a few of my main ones are goldie, lucky, rudy, tangy, lolly, sprinkle, beau, margie and several others.
However, I will say that I did speak the most to Mitzi so she was most likely the one I preferred back then!
