What will scanning amiibos do?

So it has been confirmed that there are amiibo features in the game~!
We all have our wishes for what the amiibo features are, but what do you think the features will ACTUALLY be?
Will villager cards even work or will it just be figures and the cards of the corresponding characters?

Possibly give crafting materials like Botw does with its amiibo (it’s stuff like fish, mushrooms, plants stuff like that and if it’s Zelda, a singular chest for each one scanned that is related to that amiibo, but it’s random every day)

i think it'll work the same as it did in acnl. it was a good system and for them to change how it works on a fundamental level will probably cause problems with some people. if they added more things to do with them i wouldnt be opposed though; i just want to still be able to get the villager i want the most with my cards.

I hope they allow us to use the cards to have our favorite villagers move in like in ACNL. I know many people think of it as unfair but honestly I paid for the dang cards I want them to retain their function lol

I think it'll be just as it is in the Welcome Amiibo update, plus maybe amiibo figures will give crafting items.

I think it would be cool to let us scan cards at the start. I feel like with only two villagers, they would let us choose them? Maybe we can scan their cards to send them a plane ticket.
It's more realistic that it would give us a furniture item or just some crafting materials, of course.

I hope that’s the case! However from those YouTube videos showing us basic gameplay, I feel like they would have mentioned that we would be able to choose from the start with the amiibos.

i really hope that it allows us to have the particular villager move in, because i figure that's why a lot of people got their amiibo cards! (or at least i did)... and i know some people have been speculating that wisp may not be the main amiibo person anymore, but i really hope that we see the phone from hhd ahaha

I just ordered the Resetti and Kapp'n Amiibos in preparation for this. They were only $2.99 each from Gamestop store pickup (only 2 available around me). Just a heads up for anyone in the market.

I mentioned this in another post, but I'm sure a lot of people are waiting for the upcoming direct to confirm amiibo usage before they buy the cards. The problem is, if we get our wish, and villagers will move in with the cards, the prices will skyrocket. I'm in a rush to get them all, but I may be super disapointed in the end.

Really I desperately want Fauna and Marina in my town...

I want to know before the release if we can use them for that purpose.

It would be nice to hear some good news instead of what nintendo is restricting.

otherwise, i couldn't really think of anything else. maybe they will come out with some new amiibo cards for new horizons? like the special edition isabelle amiibos- or any other npc amiibo where they just change their clothes
i am pretty sure the new npc's would be apart of the new amiibos, if they come out

I have KK, Reese & Cyrus figurines, so I'd hope they'd give you something more exciting than those amiibo cards. Like with KK the game could just give you one additional song per day, not sure how the other NPC would fit into that.

I think most realistically the villagers would give you some crafting items based on their personality. Like their main appeal would be to get your favorite villager onto your island, the rest would just be a some small bonus for daily playing.

I never thought of this! Yes! I would love isabelle to change into one of her outfits if you scan the amiibo - even just for the day.

If we can scan cards to get villagers I will scan my two favorites Molly and Poppy, but that is it.

I would love if scanning an Amiibo gave you exclusive outfits and items.

That or you could choose to bring that specific character to your island for a limited amount of time, but not as a resident. I would like to see the option to build a hotel on your island at some point in the game and have characters come and stay at the inn.
