What would you think of being able to own and drive a car?

After reading this thread again now I wonder... Would Nintendo do this to continue the deal with Mercedes-Benz where they had DLC in Mario Kart 8 and Super Mario Maker?

why

Would that be a cool idea or would Animal Crossing lose its magic if it becomes more like the Sims? In what ways do you want Animal Crossing to innovate?

What about other ideas such as a bigger or open world? Would that ruin Animal Crossing?

i cant picture any human or animal having a drivers license, DMV, and cars in such a rural town like in animal crossing

bikes/roller skates/skateboards are waaayyyy better idea

HAHA this would be so strange to have in animal crossing but i'm all for it lmao. if they did it right maybe it would spice up the recipe for animal crossing games in a good way. maybe not have a huge focus on it and it would be fine.

but i already predict this is how we will get around in the switch game VIA our RV's/campers

bicycles, skateboards and roller blades sound like fun ideas as well. i'd actually prefer those as local transportation (around town) and use our campers to travel to friends. hey, maybe there will be a feature that lets us have road trips with friends like traveling through dream towns, but with other friends online. now that would be amazing

I would just like to point out that in Happy Home Designer your character drives a car. Though that's because the world is much bigger and you need a way to get around. I don't think it detracts at all from the game. After all, since Animal Crossing takes place in an industrialized society, there are going to be vehicles.

Perhaps if they added some sort of new "City" area, a car would be the best way to get there. If it is necessary to the game to have one, I don't think it will be of any negative effect. That being said, I'm still very opposed to AC trying to replicate The Sims. I just don't see the mere inclusion of a car to be something that would steer it in that direction.

Animal Crossing is more of a small close village kinda mood, I don't think a car would really fit into the theme unless they completely changed the atmosphere of the game. To introduce a car would probably mean a more modern town/outright city which I'm not really for.

I wouldn’t like it. Animal crossing is nice to me because it has a simple, homey feel to it. Honestly a car would ruin that.

I thought your character was supposed to be a child in Animal Crossing, though? Well, then again, if a child can be a mayor in NL and drive an RV in PC, I guess cars wouldn't be any different. Still, I would be against it.

Given the villager drives in HHD and PC, I can see the car as a viable thing to have. I'd love to drive one. I know, unpopular opinion, but the car wouldn't be meant for the main village. It's meant to get out and about. Like the bus from City Folk, and the boat from New Leaf. You can drive to the city, to the docks, maybe some new places, too, like the Happy Home Showcase, or even to a friend's town.

Interesting, but I don't think that would be a good idea. I actually prefer walking around than doing anything else. It gives the game a more casual feeling. Plus, I don't think there would be much room driving a car around your town.

A scooter or something like that would work as well, what do you all think?

I wouldn't like it. But a bicycle or something like that would be cute.

No thanks...! I prefer to walk around and enjoy my town, no matter the size.

Perhaps we can take the bike idea and make it a scooter, instead? Like the one Isabelle has in her RV.

The one Isabelle has in her RV was also from Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. But yeah, I would think a scooter or bike is better than a car. Or no in-town transportation, period. The towns are quite small. There?s no room for a car, or streets for a car.

I had some intetesting ideas for AC Switch too, but not all of these ideas are going to be good ideas.

It?s an interesting idea, but I honestly am I classic fan in favour of Kapp?n?s transports. If there were many different places to go to, like the city from ACCF, then I?d like it

I'm not a fan of owning a car in AC. I'd like the towns to be a little bit bigger, but still small enough to walk around, if that makes any sense. Though I suppose it could be parked somewhere and you could just drive it if you want to go to the city, like in City Folk. (Insted of taking the bus to the city)

it really wouldnt fit with the game in the slightest
we dont need any vehicles for getting around our towns and if they gave us one for it that would be pretty strange, other than things like the train and boat we board but have no control over

I really need Animal crossing to stay the same but with new items added. Change scares me.
