Because, it didn't have much variety in the items in provided. I am referring to the one in New Horizons. Last year you had to use Rainbow Feathers just to customize the items, but I learned that since the 2.0 update came you can basically customize the Festivale items by talking to Cyrus at Harvs island making the Rainbow Feathers Pointless. In fact he makes the event feel pointless because when you give feathers to Pave he just gives you different colored festivale items depending on what color of feathers you give him.

Today's my first time. I don't think I've played enough to solidify my opinion on the event as a whole, but based on what I read and watched from its debut in City Folk... wow, it makes me realize just how lazily-handled a lot of the events were in that game.

My first time would have been 2018 in New Leaf. I think it's a pretty fun holiday even though I don't care for the furniture very much. I like seeing my villagers all dressed up and having fun and it's not a holiday that stresses me out. I just catch feathers as I see them and play the games with my villagers. If I do get more furniture, I think it sells for a pretty good amount, but since I don't need it I mainly just enjoy the pretty confetti floating around town.

P.S. I've only played Festivale in New Leaf so I can't comment on the other games.

2013 was my first year! i got new leaf on NA release day and time travelled obsessively, so i experienced festivale in 2013 instead of having to wait until 2014.

2021 Was my first year because NH was my first and the only animal crossing game I play. I skipped the Festivale this year, I don't wanna do the event again..

My first festivale was around 2009 - 2010 in City Folk. I liked it better in City Folk actually. I am surprised how many people experienced their first festivale in New Horizons, lol.

My first Festivale was in 2018! That is really surprising because I owned all of the AC games at that time but Wild World and GCN. I never really played on that day for some reason so it was really recent for me.
