What you love and what you hate about it.

I like:
Creative freedom - no ranking or rating system for designs.
Furniture movement - the touchscreen is really intuitive, and half-squares really help with interesting placement.
Rugs and ceiling items - so many more design possibilities than New Leaf.
The catalog - very easy to find the exact furniture you want with a search function and item images.

I dislike:
Not having my own home to design.

To those who are upset about not being able to save/suspend in the middle of designing a home - it actually is possible. Pressing the start button while designing a home will give you a save option. Then you can turn off the system. You will come back directly to that design the next time you boot up the game.

I really don't like how I can't hang up items on the wall when I have some items up against the wall (even though there'll be plenty of room above the item).

What I love is that it's doing what Super Mario Maker and Mario vs Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars in that you create something, share it, and have others play/view it, and rate it. I just love the decorating aspect of this series, I put restaurants in my WW, and NL houses (the two games with the most playtime), so of course now I get to design not only one restaurant, but THREE? I'm in heaven!! Next, I totally love being able to give villagers certain themes/styles that I've wanted them to have for nearly 15 years! I can finally do that! Sure, it sometimes takes some creativity to incorporate what they want too, but that's often not too difficult. You also get the advantage of redoing it at anytime, so if you don't like how you did it the first time, you can redo it, even expanding their house in the process!

One of the biggest things I hate is that the "day" is literally one house/PWP development! Lottie (specifically Takumi) drives me nuts constantly like- don't forget to write your report, write your report, write your report, SHUT UP YOU STUPID OTTER!!! I also wish they'd have limited you to a budget, you have too much freedom I think. Sure, it sometimes takes like a dozen villagers to finally unlock a full set or series, but you should have values placed on them like you did in prior games so not everything can be added that's unlocked. Plus, the way some fossils, gyroids, fish, bugs, etc are unlocked is using play coins to "memorize" the lesson? I never cared for that part. The final thing I hate is removing real time. It should have things based on real time (outside the snow appearing on Main Street), I want something else to be time-sensitive to this game, like only have villagers show up on normal hours of like 6AM to 11PM something like that. You can play at 3AM and it's literally no different than 3PM! It would be in every other Animal Crossing game that came before it!

I love that they renewed the whole home decoraction process, if it were like in New Leaf the game wouldn't work as well. One thing I love in games is when I can change things. Being able to change the complete look of your character has really been great.

What I don't like as much is that you really don't have a reason to play. I finished the public buildings first because it was much fun and now it's just 500 (?) houses and then be done... And you always have the same map to choose a place from.
Another thing is that you don't even have to play it. You could just open the boxes and be done. In New Leaf, when villagers visit you, they can tell you what's wrong with your home... why isn't this kind of programming in HHD? :/

Pros
- I really like the fact that we get to design buildings, because even though I kind of suck at interior design, it is pretty fun and I've made quite a few things I'm proud of, such as the concert hall and the restaurant.
- I also like how you can choose different skin colours for your character.
- I like that you can collect basically all the villagers.
- I also think it's really cute that you can actually see the villagers working, shopping and eating instead of watching them just stand there with a blank look on their face.
- I like some of the new controls when it comes to moving furniture.

Cons
- This is also one of my problems with Let's Go to the City: the conversations with villagers are often repetitive and get boring after a while.
- Once you unlock all the buildings (the restaurant, shops etc) the actual game gets really repetitive.
- I might put more effort into the houses if I knew the animals could disapprove of what I do. Having them always be happy with it makes it too easy.
- While the ability to move furniture without dragging it around is easier, it also feels more like you're a god watching over the game, rather than actually being involved in the town the way you were in previous Animal Crossing games.

Overall I do like it, but I'll take any of the other games over this any day (except Amiibo Festival, because screw that game).

The worst thing for me is not having a house to design for myself. Seriously!? Did they REALLY not think of adding this as a reward or even something you get at the beginning of the game?! Tom Nook could have let you stay at an apartment or he could have let you have a house at the beginning of the game! Instead of decorating Lottie's house at the beginning of the game that could have been your own house where you learn how to design. As the game progresses you can expand the size of the house and decorate rooms and such! Having your own house would have been a great feature to the game.

i just got the game like one week ago, & i've been having a lot of fun with it (for the very scarce time that i have to play it, that is) !! i think this game will do nicely for the time-consuming game i have to play in my long trips every two, three weeks...

what i like about it: having almost a complete creative freedom as to when i'm decorating houses/facilities, being able to decorate my favourite villagers' home (man did i love working on muffy's house!), the new characters, being able to change my appearance on the fly, etc

what i sort of dislike: the fact that this game is bound to be really repetitive once you get all the facilities done & having almost everything unlocked. idk. i just have this feeling that i shouldn't play this game everyday, only once in a while or so.

but nonetheless, it's a great game for small doses, i guess.

I love decorating the villager homes. It gets kinda boring after a while, though. :\
I dislike how we don't get our own home to customize. I mean, what gives?! Do we just live on the street? D:

What I like;
It's a fun casual game with quite a few things to do in it (for a spin-off). The customizing options in it for your character is fun also but I'm a bit torn on the "You have to wear your uniform thing". The Villagers are fun to collect and chat with. All the items are cool to use and the furniture placement system is super cool. I also love the ability to share your designs with others and rate them.

What I didn't like
First of all, you don't get a house of your own. It kinda sucks thinking you are a HOUSE DESIGNER. I really dislike the use of Amiibo cards. While I don't know much on how these cards work it would have been nice if that had a code written on it so you would type in instead of having to buy a card reader if you had an older 3DS. The villagers aren't super fun to chat with. They seem sort of bland but maybe that's just because you can really do much with them but chat. Lastly, there isn't any way to visit your friends town and play multiplayer like in AN:NL.

What I love is going to do all the houses and the interaction the villagers have with furniture now- even singing which is pretty cool!

What I hate? Probably the fact you get no house of your own. I mean here I am doing house after house after house 300+ times, and I never get one? WHY???

I hate the fact that people post a bunch of inappropriate things on HHN, and that they get so many likes.

I love is the theater where they perform K.K's songs, and that you can dress the villagers!

I just love the meaning of the game - That you get to design resident homes.

I really don't hate anything with the game, but I dislike you cannot add your designed homes to AC:NL, I mean, how cool wouldn't that be??

Just because its popular amoung adults doesnt change the fact its aimed at children.

Think of all the goofy hairstyles every child chooses but no adult would even glance at.
The fact it lets you place anything anywhere you can make whatever in any building.

its aimed for kids even if popular with older demographics.

I agree that it's a good thing you can change your character's looks. I really love all the new possibilities like curtains, windows, lamps, rugs... all the new furniture and the possibilities. I like that you can come back to a villager's house and change it however you want.

But I was disappointed that I 'finished' the game so quickly (there aren't enough challenges in my opinion, you can basically do whatever you want which makes the game a little too easy, it would have been nice to have villagers with more precise, more challenging expectations). I also agree that the 'feedback' from the villagers are pathetic and not encouraging. I also really hate that whole Amiibo card system... I see no interest in it for us players. I could see why collectors like it, but it's just another way for Nintendo to make money and this is as far as it goes, we all know it and I find it idiotic.

i love the interior decorating aspect of the game... it really helps give me ideas for both new leaf and elsewhere. i love what people come up w/ for the houses as well!

as for what i hate... hate's kind of a strong word to use regarding this game, but i'd really like it if you can have your own personal home and you can furnish it with the furniture you obtain from doing requests. it'd be super cool to invite villagers over via amiibo and have a house party !!

The ending my work day after only one house does bother me a lot. Don't know why, but maybe it's logic based? You can't really finish a real house in just one day...
No character interaction.
Not being able to walk down a random street and see all the houses. [That would be super cool. Click an area on the map and go there, and see the houses built.]
The request are all the same half the time. If I have one more gym suggestion I'm going to throw the game away.

i love the game but i hate how i cant skip the scenes when you can take pictures ... its just soo long....

I love some the way you build houses, pick lands to build them, assign villagers to jobs, etc.

But I honestly feel like it gets way too repetitive way too quickly, unless you enjoy building houses in ACNL, this game can only last a few hours.
Thankfully unlike regular Animal Crossing games, you can hop on back into HHD without being afraid that your favorite villager is going to move out.
