when my mama and i cook she always asks me "What should we have for dinner tonight!" being italian- americans my family eats a lot of pasta but my favorite homecooked meal is braciole; it's steak rolled up with cheese, prosciutto, parsley, and bread crumbs then fried in a pan and soaked in its own gravy with red wine& then served with peas and ditalini pasta.. it's sooo good! but! Its always nice to switch up dinner sometimes and make something new!
My mom makes this bourbon chicken... OH MY GOSH. It is so good, and she makes white sauce to go with it, and I just wanna cry tears of joy yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Mm, when my dad makes Stir Fried Rice with BBQ Pork, Char Tsu, and some chinese vegetables with a nice sauce to go along, I die of happiness. Sooo good. I guess he wouldn't be as good at making Chinese food if he didn't grow up in Hong Kong. He also makes a really nice Fettuccine Alfredo, and one time he made a really good Pork Wellington. My dad is an amazing cook, so it's like 5-star restaurant food for supper.
OHMYGOSHyou're so lucky!!that stir fried rice dish sounds soooooo gooooooooood and all of these sauces are making my mouth water lulz we're so lucky to have such good food on the table! ^.^<3
My favorite home-cooked meal is anything with eggs in it. And coming from an Asian family, we eat rice with almost anything. I'd say my staple food is eggs with rice ahaha. When I was in vacation in Japan, I had omurice (omelette rice) for the first time and that left a really big impression on me. So I make my own version of omurice from time to time as well.
Probably prawn mee (also known as Penang Hokkien mee). My mom makes the broth from scratch, spending almost 30 hours simmering prawn shells and pork ribs. We also fry up our own pork scratchings and crumble them over the noodles right before they're served. Pretty ****ing phenomenal stuff.
So far, on the list of things I've cooked myself, is a veggie moussaka. I had some difficulty with it due to accidentally using a baking dish that was smaller than I thought so it all just barely fit. But it tasted awesome and there was some left over too.
At the same time, I really enjoyed bean enchiladas when I made them and I have this spicy bean casserole that's always loved when I make it. Bean recipes are kind of my speciality in cooking.
With what my family has made, it's hard to say really, they all make such good things. That said, my mother makes awesome fajitas and lasagne.
Whenever I go back home during the holidays my mom would make me porridge with abalone for breakfast... it's amazing. I also really love her ox tail soup. My mouth is watering thinking about it
edit/ and I agree with kite. I love cooking eggs with everything. I make omurice at least twice a week lol.
