i like to rewatch old movies and videos that have always made me happy when i'm having a bad time. some of my go-to videoss are the mcelroy brothers' videos (particularly monster factory) & dunkey's old streams with leah; and some of my movies are the last unicorn, raggedy ann's musical adventure, and (now that i have it back again <3 <3) eraserhead. there's a ton of stuff really but those are some of my all-time favs that never fail to make me feel a little better!
Prayer. Spending time with my spouse. I am so thankful we have a really good relationship. Video games are a good one. I also spend time with my pups. Sometimes you just wake up and it just isn't a good day mentally.
I have turned on a movie if I just can't focus on anything. That doesn't happen very often.
It sounds weird but sometimes doing dishes or vacuuming is a go to.
Animal crossing is definitely one of the things I enjoy when I’m having a bad day. Even if it’s just running around my island a bit. Another thing that helps when I’m having a bad day is talking to my best friend - she’s a great listener and always says the right thing.
My pets usually give me a lot of comfort if I'm having a bad day, in particular the youngest two - my cockapoo Mabel, who loves sleeping next to me on the sofa, and my rag doll Isla who cuddles up with me on my bed. They both have very lively and happy personalities and always brighten my day when I'm down.
Other then spending time with my pets, I also enjoy listening to music, reading a book or playing a video game - generally anything I find relaxing and that I can do while cuddled up under a throw on the sofa or in bed.
When I have a bad day I like rewatching some of my favorite comfort TV shows or movies. For me this includes NCIS, LOST, and Anastasia (among others). I call them my "comfort" shows because I associate them with cozy memories, feelings, or settings. For example, I use to watch NCIS a lot my sophomore year of college when I was living in a single dorm room. I had developed a routine in my schedule and for the first time felt like I was successfully living on my own and loving it. Watching this show reminds me of the mindset I had during this time, and also reminds me of the little things around me that I appreciated, like the color pens I use to keep on my desk, the fluffy blanket I had on my bed, and the drink I use to order back then from Starbucks. Remembering all these details by watching this show really helps calm me down after a hard day. I guess its similar to how therapists teach you to stay grounded during a panic attack by focusing on things you can touch, smell, taste, etc.
