Like my friend got Simon (who I also have) in her village and when I spoke to him he was like "Hi! My name's Simon, pleased to meet you!"
I don't think it would've been too difficult for Nintendo to put some scripts in when this happens, like them looking shocked and saying something like "MAX! What are you doing here?!" or being secretive about why they have a second home or saying they were here on holiday or sweating nervously and not giving a straight answer. It could've been quite funny and more feasible than having a 'different' Simon which is sorta weird. I think this is just laziness on Nintendo's part really. It could've been done!
