Because next month is November, aka where Fallback starts, I thought it'd be fitting to make this thread.
I've been curious, which of the two do you all prefer? Daylight Savings, or Fallback?
My answer, IMO, is  Fallback. It gets darker (win-win for me) earlier rather than the sun shining at your face until freaking 7:00, sometimes later. Day doesn't go by as fast either. Also overall relaxing.
Daylight Savings, however is a different story. Personally, I loathe it. It screwed me over for a MONTH due to the time. Clock is ridiculous, and the day tends to go by faster. Most part, time needs to slooooow down. As I said above, it also gets darker waaaaay later. Honestly, this is just a freaking stressful time. Also, no idea if people have experienced this, but I would always confuse days of the freaking week. Specifically, thinking today was tomorrow. It may be Thursday, but I think it's Friday.
What are your thoughts, though?

I MUCH MUCH MUCH prefer Fall Back! Aside from the fact that Fall is my favorite season in general, time was not designed to be screwed around with. And I love your point about time flying by too fast, Daylight Savings Time makes it WORSE...than it ALREADY IS! 💢💢💢

Plus, I am a night owl. I ******* love it when it get's dark at 6PM. That is the shizzle.:cool::cool:🌃🌌🌟✨🌙 It is supposed to get light early too. Pre-dawn mornings are dangerous. I even have personal experience! 💢 I remember falling and tripping one morning back in March 2015 because it was dark and couldn't see where I was going. I had to miss a school field trip and miss the following Monday (I was in the 11th grade). 💢💢💢

NTM, DST is bad for health. It is not good for your body to be confused about the time. Hell, it is even bad for mental health. It has been known to cause heart attacks and even suicide attempts. I am not saying suicide is the answer, but if DST is pushing people this far over the edge, it needs to ******* end! 💢💢💢

Plus, like you, it screwed me over for...I don't know. My sleep schedule is a train wreck, and I cannot help but partially blame Daylight Wasting Time (as I prefer to call it; I would call it something else, but it would violate the guidelines on here, lol).

NTM?! People can get CONFUSED and/or FORGET! Which can lead to people being late for work, school, appointments, etc. LIKE WHY MUCH PEOPLE GO THROUGH THIS?! 💢💢💢

NTM, not all of my clocks are automatic, so I have to keep adjusting them! It's a pain in the ass! 💢

I want DST gone! -.-
It does more harm than good! It has caused so many problems, even for me personally. I heard they are thinking of making it permanent. It is not as bad as switching back and forth, but it is still not ideal. While it would be nice to not have the sun come through my window until 8:30-9AM in the Winter, they can be extremely dangerous for people going out to somewhere (work, school, etc.).

We just need the normal "Fall Back" one all year round. This is how it was always supposed to be until some dingus thought it would be funny to put us all through this rigmarole. 💢💢💢

Okay, I feel better now. Sorry for getting so mad... ☺️☺️☺️

All the points are DEFINITELY good and valid. Now that you bring the darkness issue up, I would sometimes oversleep because it feels like 7:00 AM, when it's freaking 2:00 .---.

I feel indifferent about it. I used to reside in Arizona where we didn’t use it. It’s just something that happens.

I strongly prefer fallback mainly because that's actual standard time, and I wish we could just stick to standard and be done with all the time-switching nonsense, but in the meantime the extra hour of sleep is nice.
I could live with it if DST became permanent just to be done with it, but I reallyyyy don't like that every time the clocks go forward, there's a corresponding uptick in car accidents and health issues.

Fallback! It feels better honestly. Not a fan of 8pm and it's still bright outside. I also love the fall and winter season. I also would prefer it if we wouldn't switch time. Just doesn't make any sense anymore.

I prefer falling back and, thus, Standard Time.

Unfortunately, at least in the United States, there is some desire to make Daylight Savings Time permanent on the federal level with a Sunshine Protection Act; essentially, we would spring forward the next time DST rolled around and then keep that change permanently. The proposal has died four times since 2018, got Senate support in 2021 but didn't pass (or even receive a vote in the first place) in the House of Representatives and it has since been referred to the United States Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. So, not currently something to worry about happening immediately but something to keep your eye on potentially happening in the future. I worry that, eventually, such legislation might fully pass both chambers of Congress. One way or another, something is probably going to happen in either direction eventually because most people hate switching the clocks twice a year.

I'd much prefer keeping Standard Time permanent, it's seen as more beneficial to human health due to matching our circadian rhythms and I'm more of a night owl so I prefer the sun going down earlier. I'll just enjoy Standard Time for as long as we still have it, however long or short that might end up being in the long run.

I like both, more light in summer for my evening rides in the woods , darker sooner in winter for cozy evenings at home. If we were keeping daylight saving time, it would be way too dark in the morning and dangerous for little kids going to school.

I am a huge advocate for ending DST and sticking with Standard Time permanently, so my vote is for Fallback.

I have personal reasons for my stance. My body literally never adjusts so I lose sleep every single night during DST and it actually gets worse for me the longer it drags on. In the beginning, I'll lose an hour or two of sleep per night, but as we get into fall I'm now losing three to four hours a night. It's extremely unhealthy and I can barely function by the time we finally fall back. And I know DST is to blame because within a week of falling back, my sleep schedule is usually fine and stays that way until we spring forward again.

I also really struggle with waking up in the mornings and if it's dark outside that just makes it so much worse. I need more daylight in the morning to help me get going.

But I also have logical and scientific reasons. As others have mentioned, studies prove that DST impacts both physical and mental health negatively. Whether you recognize the effects or not, your body is reacting to the change and not in a good way. Sleep specialists overwhelmingly recommend keeping Standard Time all year.

There are also spikes in accidents after DST every year. This is bad enough during the spring, but imagine having to wake up and go to school or work before sunrise all winter long. There are not only the normal dangers of darkness and being tired, but also the added risks of snow, sleet, and ice depending on where you live.

To share an example, Nixon made DST permanent in the 70's. The public was largely in favor of it at the time. However, after just one winter, public opinion drastically turned and the law was repealed. People realized just how dangerous it was because their children were getting injured on early morning commutes to school. I don't think we need to go through that again.

So for all those reasons and more, I'm a hard proponent of permanently abolishing DST. /rant

I prefer Fallback, but I wish it would change to Fallback and then just be abolished completely. We don't need DST anymore. It's literally ancient.
100% agreed, I prefer Fallback myself.

I have problems with DST myself, heck even similar ones to what you just stated in the rant. I absoloutely hate it.

I 100% prefer fallback for all the points people brought up. I’m a night owl, and I love seeing it get dark earlier. I personally would prefer if they got rid of DST altogether. Also, semi-rant but I have to wake up at 5:30 in the morning for school, and trying to walk the three blocks to my bus stop in the dark is awful. I can’t imagine trying to do that during the winter.

Fallback for two reasons: An extra hour to sleep in (as opposed to Spring Forward, where you LOSE an hour. Boo!!!), and it means we're in late autumn and winter - my favorite time of the year.

i voted fall back because we get an extra hour of sleep and it's helpful for me cause i feel less rushed in away compared to springing forward. i think overall i wouldn't mind seeing daylights saving etc be done with for now. it takes me a while to get used to springing forward/falling back, it almost feels like by the time i get fully used to it, it's almost time to get ready to switch again 😭 i feel like i've seen/heard discussions of maybe getting rid it on a provincial level but i'm not sure how far that's gone lol
