I started with a N64 as a kid (LOVED playing Super Mario 64, but I was SOO bad at it), then got a Gamecube (loved Animal Crossing, the POkemon Colloseum games, Luigi's Mansion, and the Mario games- Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door is still my favorite Mario game of all time), a Wii (mostly play ACCF and Gamecube games on it, honestly), and finally a Switch (really, what don't I play on this?).
BUT I have always much preferred, and played way more of, the handheld consoles. I've had my Switch Lite for awhile now, and a regular Switch before (it broke, the system stopped recognizing when the controllers were attached) and have never played, or had any desire to play, a game on my television. The versatility of being able to take the console anywhere, to be able to hold it easily in my hand, and to be able to play it while doing other things (like watching television) is just priceless to me. There isn't a single game I've played on a home console that wouldn't have been better, IMO, on a handheld. I do appreciate that the Switch is a console who can bring home and handheld players together, though! But I found it so annoying when I couldn't get my OG Switch to recognize when controllers were attached and everyone online was like, "Who cares? Get a Pro Controller." which is completely useless advice when you ONLY play in handheld, which I said multiple times
