I've got a problem with my left joycon, though I'm not sure if I could call it drifting. It seems to get kind of stuck when I pull it down, and you can feel the stick resisting so it staggers any movement in-game. It also squeaks, like that sort of metallic squeaking you hear on a well-loved GameCube controller R/L trigger, and this has been since day one. I bought one of the ACNH edition Switches hoping that joycon issues wouldn't be a problem, and yet here I am just a few months later already having trouble. I don't think anything is stuck underneath it, I'm extremely particular about cleanliness, especially of my consoles and controllers, but I may need to take it apart in case it's a cat hair or just dust and get some rubbing alcohol in there.
Fortunately it's only really an issue with Animal Crossing since it's the only game I play undocked, but if this is the beginning of joycon drifting then I'm going to be pretty pissed. I'd like to echo the good word about PowerA controllers though. I bought myself one before I even got my Switch and they're pretty handy to have and very responsive. Just make sure you get yourself a couple sets of rechargable batteries, because it eats through them at quite a rate. I think I maybe get about 10 hours out of a set before I need to switch a new pair in.
The left joycon is pretty bad for me if I don't clean it up with alcohol. The right one is basically intact, but who knows when that'll start drifting too.
Both of them for me. Started with the left one. This started a while ago and it is super annoying because now, if the joycons are docked on the switch and I try to use a pro controller, they interfere with my gameplay unless I take them off and power them off as well. I can't even play with them anymore.
They went cheap to make a cheap controller and it shows. Along with the fact that Nintendo didn't even want to take responsibility for it in the beginning was disheartening to me and very unprofessional. It made me see them in a much different light. They changed from how they use to be as a "respectable company" in my eyes to "just like everyone else" now. It's all about the money of course and this finally caught up with Nintendo but they do it way worse.
My right joycon used to drift, so I sent it into Nintendo and they fixed it for free. Currently my left joycon drifts pretty bad, so I’m waiting to send that one in for repair pretty soon.
Neither, as far as I know, because I purposefully never use them because of the risk of their eventual succumbing to drift. The most use I've ever gotten from them was in the first month I owned the Switch, before I acquired a Pro Controller, to be able to use the Home button.
My original left joycon was fine for 2ish years until I started playing new horizons. By late April or early May it had a pretty bad upwards drift which was extra frustrating since my characters house is near the too of the map so just getting down to the town and houses would take minutes. It's one of the the main reasons I took a two month break from the game, during which I was able to find a hori left joycon at my local bestbuy. And I treat it extra carefully cause if this starts drifting too we're gonna have a problem
